Am I the only one that won't carry any other knife except Emersons now?

Emersons knocked out Spyderco, Benchmade and ZT, etc out of my sight and now I don't even consider carrying any of them anymore

This is funny because years ago I wouldn't even consider buying an Emerson. But I feel that Emerson Knives have the most soul (A personal opinion)

Now I need another Emerson, maybe a Commander

What are your experiences?

I felt that way at one time but have since realized I like other brands also. I own a lot of knives and probably about half of them are Emersons so I they are definitely still my favorite by far. I do carry others and have had a ZT in my pocket all week even though it happens to be the Emerson design. No matter what I carry in my pocket I always have my CQQ-7A and PUK in my backpack that goes with me everywhere.

Seilu--I'm right at this point too, at least when it comes to "modern" folders. Otherwise, it's GEC for traditionals, and Busse for fixed. That's where I'm at, and am perfectly happy. here is a pic of my small but merry band of Emersons:

For now it's only been the mini cqc 15 and mini A-100. I love how easy they are to sharpen.

I have a feeling I'll end up doing that as well. I really like many other brands, like Spyderco, CRK, Benchmade and ZT, and have numerous models of each.

But my four Emersons are the most important, even though they did not cost the most. Cannot put a finger on it, it's just the way it is with me at least.

I'm in the process of trying to get rid of all of my customs..... only keeping my cqc6 and cqc5. I honestly don't feel like I need/want anything else.

My Emersons are one of three brands that I normally carry. All good, just different. ;)

Honestly only time I'm not carrying an emerson is either
A) when I just recieved a new knife
B) I have none to carry ;)

I have more Emerson knives than any other brand, and carry them more often than my others. I've even thought about selling off some of my other knives that I never though I would to save enough money to get another Emerson Custom

I'm carrying my Custom Panzer right now, and I'm I'm the middle of my 48 hour shift at the firehouse. I definitely don't abuse it, but I'm not afraid to get it dirty.

I never thought I would be able to afford a custom either but after a few weeks of not buying any production knives or guns or holsters I was able to. I ended up with a tanto model since they are hard ones to find. I really wanted one made by the man himself and even though expensive it was worth it to me. I carry it on weekends and it has seen use but would never carry it at work for fear of losing it as I have been known to do.

I agree with this. The handmade knives I've owned are/were on par and Spydercos are just a sliver behind.

If my Emersons were more agreeable with dress pants I'm not positive I would have anything else.

Stock Emersons are customs? I dont get it.

Knives that are handmade by Mr. Emerson himself are typically referred to as customs. Emerson customs are mostly found with green micarta handles titanium bolsters and a satin finished blade. there are some out there that look much like production knives with standard G10 scales. I agree that any true custom of anything would be a product made to the customers specs but these are widely known as custom knives.

I feel ya Seilu! I use to have quite the collection of folders from all the popular brands ranging from $80.00 up to the $600.00 range (not including limited edition models or customs) that I would carry and use. But as time passed on and my preferances began to surface, I was left with Emerson's for manual folders and Microtech for autos for the past couple of years. I have purchased some KAI/ZT models but was not to my liking so I don't bother with other brands these days unless it's a gift for someone. Now I have sold off all but 1 Microtech Scarab Executive that I leave at work with my Benchmade folder (ACFK? linerlock) that I keep forgetting about. All the funds that came from selling the Microtechs went to my current collection of 22 Emersons (1 is a CQC-45 custom). Emersons are the only folders I keep/have on person or at home. I just love the fact that the Emerson can be taken apart and reassembled quickly without any funny tools, little grub screws or springs. I am a bicycle mechanic (M-F) and carpenter on weekends so my knives will be exposed to various oils, greases, adhesives and other gunk that I wouldn't want on my clothes or on person. As a bicycle mechanic, I hate TORX screws. Hex screws are ok (better tolerances for tool interface).
