The Emerson CURSE

Stock Emersons are customs? I dont get it.

I think he's trying to say that no 2 Emersons of the same model from the same batch will look the same. There will be variations in fabrication marks from the grind of the blade to the marks on the liners and scales. Handmade custom knives have a similar trait. If you want the utmost in perfection, then something fully machined would be in order. To me, all Emerson knives are unique.

Nope. Still not buying that explanation. That's just the way they're produced. Inconsistency does not mean custom.

Beautiful pics indeed
Yes, the ease of maintenance really appeals to me as well

I agree, everything produced will have a certain degree of inconsistency which doesn't real mean it's a custom lol

I can't carry any one manufacture as I enjoying mixing things up. I go in spurts on makes/models/types of knives.

Honestly I am not a collector of knives, my arsenal is small.

An Emerson CQC-7, Spyderco 79mm Rescue Jr., an L. L. Bean Pen knife, and a CHINESE made OTF Switchblade.

What I mean is that I have no interest in a custom Emerson.
I am completely content with a production model.

If it's a curse I'll wear it proudly! Hahaha ... my only issue with it is which emerson Im going to carry for the day (I have a ton!) BUT again ... I'll wear my curse as a badge of honor :-)

Man i want to resist buying a production emerson to save up for the next custom! you re not helping!!!! had the bt persian in the basket two times today...

Trust me. ^
My stock can do what a custom can do.
And no stinkin bolsters for this spider.

Persian is an awesome design, very unique. Not the most practical for me but I like to carry one as a second blade at times.

never held a production emerson - but i am convinced they must be great because of you guys! (and because it is emerson of course) :D

thats exactly the problem - there are so many nice variants of emersons that i would like to buy another one any given day... so my philosophy right now is - less knives - but more rare variants - but it is hard to do when most emersons are appealing to me :D

MOARRR! :D

I find so many of the designs appealing also and find myself buying probably more than I should just to try them out. I wish I had friends that liked Emersons so that I could try them without having to buy so many. I guess I don't mind since I know my money is going to a great company but it gets expensive. Not to mention I usually buy a second of the ones that I really like because I like to have backups.

You shouldn't pass up on a production Emerson. Atleast ones that are limited or special run. I feel that some of the custom models are next to impossible to get. Been looking on and off for 8 years till I came across the chance (with enough $$$'s) to and did get the CQC-45 that I love and cherish. I hope more custom models become available as a special edition model like the Tiger.

Truer words are rarely spoken. I just sealed the deal on a tiger and couldn't be happier :)

I agree with your position on a "Custom Emerson", but if EKI ever made some fancy pivot screws, and pocket clips under a hundred bucks. I might spring for the money.

Other than that I happy with out of the factory Emerson knives. Why mess with what works.

I donut they will ever change there hardware as it goes against Ernie's original philosophy, but steel flame makes some awesome clips to accessorize your emersons with

They knocked out my custom knived out of my pocket. It's just because the cqc7 is what a folding knife is all about.

Thanks, guys.
Bare-Bones Emerson works for us!
And, I do admire the customs. Don't get me wrong.

I love my productions Emerson's as well, and they get carried far more often than my custom. I just really love that Ti bolster and green micarta look. They add a different feel to the classic Emerson ergos.
