The "End All" Knife

My end all to “collecting” has been my Benchmade Bugout purchased in 2017. Been going strong as my only pocket knife for a few years now, and I am still very happy with that decision. I’ll buy another knife again someday I assume, but only having one has a special quality to it.

I'm basically done with modern EDC knives. Not that I won't buy another, but I have what I need.

A few Benchmades, a few Spydercos and some Kizers.

I still collect traditional and beautiful knives, and I use them, but it isn't because I am looking for something better. I guess that I am accessorizing. A knife for every occasion.

Good bless you and your self-control! One day when if I ever grow up, I hope to be in that same place.

If you have been around family long enough on Thanksgiving, there is a tendency for this to happen!! 😀
This is why this year my Wife and myself have started a new tradition. We will be spending Thanksgiving in Las Vegas WITHOUT any family members! Just her and me!

How ironic - if you’re going to stab a relative with a fork, that would be the place to do it. You know what they say, what happens in Vegas … 🤣

My Shirogorov Neon was my last knife… I carried it for over 4 years every day while my other knives languished in a drawer. The right series of events occurred and I gave the Neon to my son a couple of weeks ago. I broke the Chris Reeve knives out of the drawer, and while they are nice, they just do not resonate with me for EDC. The large are too bulky and heavy, the small are too small, yet still too bulky for their size. By coincidence, after years on the waiting list, I won the Rask lottery. It just arrived. I find the Rask to be the Neon on steroids. I don’t see where I’ll be needing another knife.

I agree with this. Among my many CRKs Spydercos, et al, the Neon was the purest, best looking and best functioning, etc. I just loved it’s form, smoothness and simplicity. Then I bought a Rask. Wow. Pricey? Of course! But it absolutely blew me away. I could do with it from now on.

The brothers make amazing knives. I'm torn on carrying my Norsman just because of the beauty of the anodizing. The build quality is fantastic, and the attention to detail is profound. The scales are milled on the inside with the company logo and motto, the clip is milled on the underside with country of origin, even the lockbar insert is engraved with the steel type. Just phenomenal.

I spent quite a few years in search of "the perfect knife" and actually have come pretty close. I was pretty active here in the early 2000s. I eventually picked up a Benchmade 742 Dejavoo in 2006. I've never quit carrying it. I occasionally try a different knife just for fun, but I've always come back to that one knife. I still occasionally buy a folding knife
Simply because I like it, but I haven't had the...obsession I've known before. Like...maybe more of a casual enthusiast these days?

Same thing happened with my Himalayan Imports Chiruwa Ang Khola Khukuri. Every one said ya' can't just have one. At one point I had half a dozen or so. But that Chiruwa Ang Khola fit my needs so perfectly, I lost interest in the others. I got that one about the time Bill Martino passed on.

So...I like to consider myself the face of recovery for knife addiction. All I need now is a new Bark River, another Fallkniven, a couple RMJs, a Spyderco Military, and....wait a minute...

The Deja Vu was one of the best knives I've ever had, it was unfortunately lost (I actually suspect stolen by a co-worker with a drug problem) at my last job. It hurt extra bad because it was an anniversary gift from Ms. Wild Willie

Aww man! That really sucks! I had that same thing happen with a Benchmade Skirmish back in the day. I'm sure of who did it. I wanted to...errrr....express my displeasure, but it wasn't worth losing my six figure job at the time over.

As my Father taught me...a couple hundred bucks is a heckuva low price to sell your integrity...

I sure wish Benchmade would bring both of them back. As things stand, if something happens to my current Dejavoo, I'd be inclined to bite the bullet and buy one on E-Prey.

It definitely sucked, if they brought it back I'd definitely consider grabbing one.

On the bright side, the loss definitely helped me expand my horizons so far as pocket cutlery is concerned. Had it not been for that I'd still be blissfully going through life unaware of the existence of some of the finer things sharp and pointy.

I'm of the opinion a guy needs options. I have an EDC rotation drawer. It is now full.... I was saving a few spots for ideal left hand knives. I have found a few I really like that end up being rh knives. I'm hoping the manix 2 on order will work well left handed and I added a BM turret today (on order) Hoping by next week I'll be done with the exception of a few DM's I've had on order for a minute. I wish I had a deja vu in the drawer but sadly I do not. I have combinations for summer, winter, work, home, gloves, no gloves, discreet, and BBQ carry.

Quitting drinking as a reason to buy a knife. This one has my sobriety date etched on the blade.

When I went through my really new knife nut period and spent like hundreds and hundreds a month, my justification was "I could still be on, get some of this and that and have the $250 be consumed in a single night - instead, I will have a quality built tool that can last years"

The manix is truly ambidextrous, you will enjoy it sinistre!

After I got the Benchmade turret, I didn't buy another knife for a long time. Then on vacation, I bought a Benchmade bailout in M4 because I didn't have anything like it. Carried it for a few days. Now I'm back to the turret.
