The "End All" Knife

I would say that you are never done collecting.

Rotate what you collect by selling/trading off an item and then get another

My notoriously frugal wife might prefer I start drinking again.
Quitting drinking as a reason to buy a knife. This one has my sobriety date etched on the blade.

I don’t understand myself sometimes. As I posted in the carrying today thread, I’ve had this Ochs Worx Solarstorm for a while now. Every time I go hunting for the next big thing, I say I want nice flipper action, frame or liner lock that doesn’t peel the skin off my thumb disengaging it, modified wharncliffe blade, sleek design with some kind of classy looking inlays on both sides, solidly built, and above average fit and finish. If I just check the knife drawer, I’d see that I have all this already in this knife, plus a whole lot more in all the other knives in there. I have a Protech Malibu and Arno Bernard iMamba on the way in; then I look at this knife and ask myself why, when this Solarstorm already checks all those boxes? I really need to start appreciating the stuff I have more and stop this unicorn-chasing shit.

Blasphemy! 😂

I know grown men that don't carry knives. Can't wrap my head around that. Kinda like men who will take their families out to eat and not take anything to protect their families.

Are you anticipating a Rough Thanksgiving this year?

Well, to be honest, I have a knife on me whenever I go out just out of habit, but the last thing on my mind is to need it for protection.

Otherwise, guys who don’t carry were probably just not brought up around knives … or firearms … and just never considered a need to carry. Some people were raised on a farm or other surroundings where a pocket knife was part of everyday life, while others … weren’t. I wasn’t - I was raised in the urban-ish suburbs, but also being in the scouts, I grew to like those pocket knives at an early age and carried some kind of small folder most of the time since then. It’s only recently I got into the ‘nicer’ pocket folders, but again, protection wasn’t very high on the list of reasons why.
