The ending of an era.......for me

From one grateful American citizen to you:

THANK YOU A TON!

If it weren't for guys like you, we'd all be goose-stepping and speaking a foreign language!

All my best wishes for you in your new endeavour!

Sincerely,
Frank:cool:

Ed,
Thank you for the years of service & dedication - the Air Forces's loss is our gain - can truly appreciate what you have given to this country (my daughter is doing the same - Air Force "AIM HIGHER!") and you have my admiration & respect.

Thank you again,
Bill

Now that you are full-time maybe we can get that little project with the Australian Ringed Gidgee wood handle going that I talked to about at Blade this year - hoping to get more of the wood soon. :D

Thanks to everyone for all the well wishes! Toady as usual, I got up at 5:30am and realized that I didn't have to put my uniform on........ but the sun still rose, and I didn't keel over.....so I suppose that's a good sign! I imagine that I'll be so busy getting the new shop finished that I won't have time to think about it for a couple of weeks.....I'll let you know how I'm doing then! I do have to admit that it does feel good to know that my fate of my working career is in my own hands now. I'll just keep looking to Kit for inspiratoin..... he's already "been there, and done that"

You can bet that once the new shop is completed it's gona be "full bore"! I'm chomping at the bit to get back after some knives!

Ed, THANKS for all you have done for us and our country! I imagine it was pretty tough trying to make knives and being transferred around in the military. No more early morning salutes, just get up and head to the shop after a leasure breakfast. Rough, but you will manage, huh?

Ed
We thank you both for what you produce and for the service that you have given to each and every one of us.

Ed, some things I've found true since retiring in 1999 (23 years).

1. The PX/BX isn't necessarily the cheapest place to buy things.

2. I'm still proud to wear my uniform to church on those special occasion days (veterans day, etc.)

3. In about two years, the military has changed enough so you don't recognize some things.

4. You have more stories to tell than your friends want to hear! The heck with them, tell them anyway!

5. The National Colors and the National Anthem can still bring a tear to your eye!

Here's to the Army and Navy, and the battles they have won.
Here's to America's colors, the colors that never run.
May the wings of Liberty never lose a feather!

Thanks Ed, job well done sir!

Just wanted to say congratulations on your new path. I have long been an admirer of your work and I plan to own one or two some day.

Again, thank you for your commitment to your exquisite new full time occupation!

Here’s to good health and many fine blades to come!

Ed, Good Luck!!

It is going to feel strange for awhile. when I go on leave I feel like i'm in a another place and not at home.

My time is coming sooner than I thought.

Don't worry Ed. I'll take your place guarding the wall!

Welcome back to the civilian world.

I appreciate your service to the USA in defending the way of life we enjoy.

Good luck in the new life.

Welcome to civilian life. Hope you make many, many knives.
Thanks for your service to the country.

For those that have retired from the military:

The Watch

For twenty years,
This sailor has stood the watch
While some of us were in our bunks at night,
This sailor stood the watch
While some of us were in school learning our trade,
This shipmate stood the watch
Yes.. Even before some of us were born into this world,

This shipmate stood the watch
In those years when the storm clouds of war were seen
brewing on the horizon of history,
This shipmate stood the watch
Many times he would cast an eye ashore and see his family standing there,
Needing his guidance and help,
Needing that hand to hold during those hard times,
But he still stood the watch
He stood the watch for twenty years,
He stood the watch so that we, our families,
And our fellow countrymen could sleep soundly in safety,
Each and every night,
Knowing that a sailor stood the watch
Today we are here to say:
"Shipmate... the watch stands relieved.
Relieved by those YOU have trained, guided, and lead.
Shipmate you stand relieved... we have the watch!"
"Boatswain... Standby to pipe the side... Shipmate's going Ashore!"
