What is the deal with their low prices? Are they that horrible? They have some funky designs in their fantasy department, but some of their stuff looks good. I don't have any experience with their products, but I'm considering buying a few of their cheap stuff just for the hell of it.

Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about Frost Cutlery?

I might buy this $5.99 machete:

And this hawk bill folder is kinda snazzy for only $4.99:

And here are some funky frost $9.99 folders:

is this one trying to be a Spyderco Gunting?

 wow, somebody call the funky police we have a major funk violation!

It's your money, but...

For about the same price, you could get a Cold Steel machete from the same site (www.eknifeworks.com).

As for the others, I think you will be sorely disappointed and put your digits in peril with any cheezy linerlock. I have a bunch of cheap lockbacks that I trust, but cheap linerlocks are just bad news.

If you buy those, your other real knives will get disappointed and never talk to you again. :D

No, actualy you other knives will get angry and stab you in your sleep;)

Zytif-

It depends on what you want from your knives... While I agree those knives can look snazzy, I have found them to be severely substandard. Sure, they cut, but they are shoddily built, don't take a good edge, and fall apart easily- the pivots and lock are made from scrap metal.

I went through a hge number of cheap knives and eventually hit on the fact that a) you get what youpay for and b) spending a little more once saves me time, money and aggrivation.

How? Buying one good $20 knife made better sense to me than Replacing a cheap $5 knife 4 times cuz its just not sharp or always loose.

Yeah, I see those adds and think how cool it would be to get them... How MANY knives I could get for my dollar. But in the end they always disappoint. Nothing for me is going to beat buying a knife I KNOW will work for me for the long run, and never let me down. My $60 Benchmade Griptilian is awesome, solid, safe, great steel, and comfortable.

A salesman gave me a Frost folder liner lock a while back. If the price were .99 cent I would be getting ripped off severely. I think rev_jch got it right in one word. "Junk". dtsoll:D

my wife had one of the hawkbills before she got her Kershaw. The pivot screw and the clip screws kept coming loose and she lost it. And if you want a khukuri get one from HI. I bet I could chop that machete in half with one of my sirupatis.

Don't waste your money. A $20 SAK, Buck, Schrade, Camillus, Kershaw, etc. is far better quality.

I bought one years ago before I knew any better and it was truly junk.

Buying one of those is like buying a Yugo.

Why the hell would you waste your money on junk?

OK, thought id chime in. In no way am i suggesting anybody buy a Frost knife, i know they are absolute crap, after all, dont those, how shall i say, "enthusiastic" guys on TV sell some of these "quality" knives for about a buck, and still make a profit big enough to line their pockets, pay for the knife AND air time? :) They must buy these knives for about a dime, its kind of mind boggling, until you realize theyre probably made by children making about a penny a day from steel nobody wants.

However, i thought id offer at least a different perspective.

There are some among us, myself included, that do use knives, but equally enjoy collecting them, and many of us i think dont use our nicest, most expensive knives and instead buy cheaper knives to use and abuse, i know im guilty of this. While its true that my nice knives that i collect and dont use are fairly expensive, and thus even my beaters/users are nicer than anything Frost makes, not everybody can afford to spend $100-$200 on their beaters and so, for them, the Frost knives are an attractive choice, notice i said attractive, not reasonable. Now, having said this, merely to bring up a different perspective, i guess i have to agree with you all that Frost knives arent even good enough to be disposable beaters, and certainly even the most depraved among us can afford to spend literally just a few dollars more and get a $20 Kershaw vapor or its equivalent.

So, while i can understand someone not wanting to abuse their brand new benchmade and instead use a real cheapie, i suggest you spend a few dollars more and not buy anything made by Frost. There is a reason they sell them for a dollar and buy them for a dime. :)

My buddy Chris has 2 of them machete/kukri knives in that pic. He got them for 2 bucks a peice at a pawn shop. They are thinner stock than most of my folders. I could bend one in half..bend it the other way...then snap it in half with my bare hands. I dont think it is even steel. You try to use that thing as a machete and you'd go through maybe 4 branches before you had no machete left.

I think he was being sarcastic.... Atleast I hope he was, a can lid will take a better edge than the ****'s Frost calls cutlery:).

Please, do not buy any of the above. I have worked in a knifeshop and handled the machete. Let me tell you, it was not even worthy of the name "Machete." Made of cheap, thin steel and crap handles. I have also handled the folders, all had significant blade play. save up and buy a spyderco:)

wasn't so much poorly designed as it was poorly made. The aluminum handle was a little thick but provided a pretty good grip. Imagine a Camaro built in China. It may look good, but...

Id rather use a revlon nail clipper then those pieces of garbage. Honestly Who would EVER wanna carry such a ugly knife?! Save up and buy a Microtech, but by all means do not waste your money on a Sebenza! **JUST KIDDING** :D

Yeah i took a knike to work to show the guys , it was a CRKT Crawford / Kasper Fighting Folder the bigger one . Anyways he loved it , the next week he brings in a really sharp looking knife , He showed it to me and said he got it at the flea market for 10 bucks .
I just played with it for a minute then gave it back saying it was very nice, I came back like 30 minutes later to find him trying to put the screws all back in that fell out on him while he was playing with it :) Well If your going to buy a knife , buy a nice one, Spend the few extra dollars and it will be worth it in the long run.
I could buy 5 buck knives all day long :) But they will only last a very short time.
Dont buy Junk ;)Its the Law !!!
