Dunno' if the Air Force Museum is open at night, but if it is it's worth the trip.

That was one of the first things I checked, I've always wanted to check that out since I was a kid, never have, unfortunately, they are closed of the evenings.

Diving on an active underwater volcano RIGHT NOW.
Ambient temp was 14.7C. just about 10cm below the surface of the bottom (probed with... a probe) temp went up by 10C, about 18F.
Yikes.

Burger Kings new Angry whopper deserves an award!! And they heard me when i said no mayo the firs time. I mean that burger is DELICIOUS.

And i know they didnt do anything to my food because i watched them, and the 2 ladies were too busy arguing with each other too worry about me.

The buffalo strips could have been better but the burger was RIGHT!! Thick bacon, onion rings, jalapenos, pepper jack cheese and other yummy stuff i didnt see but tasted LOL

The only other fast food burger i have ever praised was the Checkers bacon roadhouse burger, the one that was on sourdough bread i believe.

Pretty cool stuff!! I'm watching right now as they are taking a temperature reading and just before this when they were moving to where they are now, there was a few fish stirring up stuff so it was tough to see.

Ive never had either one of those burgers, But I'll save you a few bucks and keep your tastebuds from hating you. The Franks red hot burger at Hardees is the most vile, nasty, gross, and any other word you can think of that I have ever had the the displeasure of tasting. couldnt even finish it and Im was one hungry SOB. Gave it to my son who will eat anything and he wouldnt even try it judging by the scowl on my face. :barf:

I got to go on one of my first trips up there, I checked out a huge hanger full of all kinds of planes and then went to the "WWII and after section". One of the absolute coolest thing to see was a display of things POWs had made out of tin cans.. ovens, pots and pans, radios with a big rough piece of crystal in it.. amazing the stuff a person can make out of trash. Also getting to touch the "Bockscar" plane was awesome. It is worth staying an extra day to see and I heard they have added a whole other building since I was there.

Nice one, buddy. Although I have no idea who that is.

Thanks man. Yeah, no one knew who I was last night. Last year when I lived in Denver I went as a zombie and everyone kept calling me Captain Spaulding. So this year I go ahead and do Spaulding and no one up here in this little town knows who he is. He is from A Rob Zombie horror movie The Devils Rejects. Oh well, my kids really like having the only crazy parent who puts on a costume and we have a great time.

Screw all them big burger chains. Even when they're pretty good, they're not all that great.

Support local dives and diners! Angie and I swear by "The Other One", a tiny little place up in Oak Ridge. It's in a crappy little strip mall, but boy howdy do they make good burgers! Sliders to OMG-that's-WAY-too-big-for-one-human, hot to mild, every topping you could want, made fresh. Good produce and a better selection of hot sauces than I even have at home.

Also, they have a beer license and a pretty decent selection... try finding that at BK or McDeath or whateverelsenot. :D

Man that Angry Whopper was great really, and the checkers bacon roadhouse is always good, They are not the best burgers i ever had but they are the best i ever had at fast food chains.

There was this little shack down in florida that use to sell burgers, pulled pork sandwiches, ribs, and wings... thats it, no fries, no drinks, no other sides... Nothing.... You had to walk up to the shack to order, and if you wanted a drink you had to go to the gas station across the street. he did it all out of a trailer that had charcoal and gas grills that he had built in to it, the man hooked it to his truck and drove it to work and home everyday like a roach coach (if your familiar with the term). His wings werent all that great, ribs were only average.... but I have never in my life to this day had a better burger anywhere. The guy was cool as could be too, If you were rude he wouldnt serve you at all, if there was a woman in line and you didnt let her go first he would serve you at all, and he would tell you quick that he did this job as a hobby and he didnt care if you bought from him or not... I remember a man in front of me in the line yelled at his girlfriend or wife right in line and the man that made the burgers threw his burger right in the dirt and told him he doesnt serve "A-Holes". He was an awesome guy. a lot of times he gave the kids their orders free or added something to it free. everyday he had lines all the way down the sidewalk at lunch time for his burgers. It was a sad sad day when he got sick and wasnt able to continue making them.

Rock on!

I must admit, living in East Tennessee has completely spoiled me when it comes to small businesses like that... you don't have to go far to find a tiny family-operated burger/BBQ stand or diner/supper club that is completely independent and really takes pride in their work. It used to be that way in my home-state Wisconsin, but for various reasons most of those cats got forced out one-by-one by giant corporations :(

We have all the chain fast-food places here too, but... forget that. I like looking the owner and cook in the eye when I ask for his/her best :) There is nothing quite like ordering a sammich and having the kid at the window or counter tell you, "Sorry sir, we're slammed and you're gonna hafta wait a few minutes... we're just about to get the next batch of meat out of the smoker you're standing next to... is that OK? You want a Coke while you wait?"

Yeah. I can deal with that :D

ETA: I'm not a total purist... I admit to having gulped down plenty of "food" from Sonic and Hardee's and so forth, in a hurry... and even Taco Bell  :o

Thanks, Todd!
Too bad it's nearly sidelined my knifemaking, tho. >:(

We don't have any really good burger places around here. Every place around here uses performed frozen patties. There is a little town about 40 miles from here that has one restaurant that makes an awesome burger, but I think they might have closed.

I just went and picked up my Tundra from the body shop. I had it there getting a small dent and scratched fixed on the door. When I dropped it off they found a scratch on my fender down to the metal that had started to rust. I only had the money to fix the door so I told them I'd have to get the fender done another time. Anyways, I guess the scratch was annoying them and they fixed it and repainted my fender gratis. That pretty much made my day. I'm going to have to think of something to give them to thank them.

Sounds like they need a couple of 11s at the shop! That is very cool though AC.

There are a couple decent burger places around. But they are kind of few and far between.
