The fing new catalina wine mixer (the gathering and outlaw cut!!!)

I once got done mowing, climbed off the tractor, and happened to look down on the axle and saw the Shiro laying on it. It had fallen out of my pocket yet somehow not fallen onto the ground and I happen to notice it.

That thing has tried to escape so many times

Belated gathering appreciation post-

As everyone already knows, Nate and Jo are excellent people. They are gracious hosts (Jo), hilarious company (Nate after an undisclosed number of Yoko beers) and they make my favorite knives in the world.

It's also deeply fascinating to me how they've built a community of people of diverse backgrounds that enjoy each other's company here on the forum and still more in person, with minimal drama.

I had such a good time getting to know some of you better at the gathering. Michael EMCEE EMCEE is as genuine and bighearted as they come, and gives great life advice considering he's spent decades working the poles.

The "elusive" Matthew Gregory Matthew Gregory is a keen observer of the human condition and fortunately Nate doesn't listen to his pricing advice

SwarthyGnome SwarthyGnome is a great dude under the horsehead mask, after the gathering he was kind enough to send me some gorgeous SDFK scales he's made, carefully packaged wrapped in a diaper as we both have infants at home 🤣. Thank you Dan, and hope your knee feels better soon 🐝

Grenock Grenock may at first glance seem like the human embodiment of a grizzly bear with a hangover, but don't worry- apparently he hasn't torn anyone in half in awhile. I'm convinced he would have been in danger of winning the outlaw cut had he chosen to participate. Marc is a big human. He's also a benevolent king CoCK who let us fawn over his exquisite CPK collection and was generous enough to gift me some Westinghouse paper scales in honor of the birth of my daughter. They now adorn my bad idea FK2. Thanks again man.

I also got to camp by the creek for the second year in a row- still haven't managed to dig anything up yet

Camping was still a good time even though I forgot to zip the rain fly on my tent and came back to a puddle in my sleeping bag after it downpoured during dinner Saturday night 😭. Nate offered to let me stay in an only slightly moldy shipping container but it smelled like Tanto had been living in it so I went back to my soggy tent

This is the third time I've gotten to hang with yoko yoko and I just want to say that I really appreciate him. He keeps the good times going and is a really encouraging force to be around.

Fonedork Fonedork is a fascinating person. I really like him. I definitely asked him if he had put lsd on the almond cookie he passed me before I ate it. Maybe he did? Maybe that's why it took two weeks to write this post.

Great to see A afr , PolRoger PolRoger , and Mike157 Mike157 again. Great to meet V vkp78 , toker toker and everyone else mentioned above, sorry to anyone I might have missed.

Finally, I was pleasantly surprised to come in 3rd place of the non Bladesports competitors for the outlaw cut. I was given the prize of designing the DIY CPK. I've been spending a lot of time thinking about what I want to make and Nate promised that Mark will fix whatever I send them prior to heat treat. I'm planning to post a WIP thread so stay tuned for that sometime over the next couple months. I've been really careful when crossing the street because between that prize and getting my hands on a Skinner last year, I think I've used up more luck than I should expect to receive again anytime soon!

That's enough, can't wait for next year.
