I only have two from the early years. The 72 in Red Stag is from 2010. The serial number on mine is #20. However, according to @redsparrow , there were only 17 made! Regardless, it is my favorite cover material ever used by GEC, and I am glad to have it. You would think they would revisit Red Stag. With the inferior Stag we have today, it seems like an easy and effective way to make
it look better.

The 73 is Horsecut Antique Jigged Bone from 2008. This does not even show in the production records as far as I can tell. However, I know there are others, because Jeff black mamba black mamba has one as well. The tube states it is a prototype, but the knife itself does not bear the etches for prototype or PPP.

These two will probably never leave my collection. Great thread Charlie waynorth waynorth !
There is at least one more 73 out there in the Horsecut bone - living here in Brooklyn. Such a beautiful cover material. IMG_7319.jpeg

While I am posting #23s, I thought this Stag oughta get a showing!!
Hatpin Stag 1.jpgHatpin Stag 2.jpgHatpin Stag 3.jpg This knife was made in 2007, when Bill was of the opinion that nice stag shouldn't be interrupted with a shield!! Hence, the hatpin!!
Maybe we have a new term - we could call nice genuine Stag, "Hatpin Stag"??!!
Ha-Ha!!
(notice; the etching tool is already dull!! 🤣

Charlie, are you sure The Old Dog didn't rehaft that #23 for you?! That's the best looking stag I've ever seen on a GEC, and beautifully matched!
Ha Ha! It does look like Tony's work, Jeff!! Ken Daniels was still with GEC in 2007 I believe, and both he and Bill were Stag hounds!! The knife is all original, IMO!! The year is only on the tube on that knife - one owner since new, until I scored it (from a reliable source)!!

Always thought to let the stag do the talking,if you like what it's saying, look further for the answers to your questions.
I agree when it's a fixed blade but inletting a shield into deep popcorn, ridged, fissured Stag just shows it off even more, plus there's always the Pile side for purists...;)

Thanks, Will
