Thanks guys. I have fun with them still and there are so many things to do yet.

The design itself is an interesting progresion in its development. The handle started out with a flat top, flat bottom oval sides. Then they went to round top, flat bottom, then round top round bottom,. Somewhere along the line I played with the length of the bottom back portion what fits against the palm of the hand, so you will find some that are shorter and slightly more rounded on the end of the handle, then there are some that are a little pointer, then you will find those that have less or more sweep to that portion of the handle. All of it from field useage which is why it slowly developed. You will find just a few drop point ones, I think there are three full tang interals out there, 2 full tangs with guards not intergal, a couple with no guard but bolsters. Frame handles such as shown in this thread, a few have no rear bolsters, some with. All rear bolsters ones are engraved, there are no plain ones of that. There are just a few of them out there with no "thumb notches" thats cause I got distracted and forgot to do it before heat treating. For the most part they are concealed tang with the tang on all of them running at least 3/8 inch from the back of the handle.
Thats just information some of you might want.

Sweet looking knives. I just did a Google image search on "fisk sendero knife" and got 715 images, the bulk of which are the real McCoy!

That's pretty interesting Phil as you can see other maker's versions of Jerry's Sendero design. Not to hard to pick out the real McCoys.

Jerry created this Sendero for the ABS Expo in Reno NV around 2006, or so. The late Bob Neil purchased it for a collector in China. I was told this collector had around 50 Fisk Senderos in his collection.

Anyway, a few years later the collector sent the piece back to Bob and it was sold at one of Jerry Fisk’s Micro Shows. So this Sendero traveled from Arkansas to Nevada to Georgia to China back to Georgia to Arkansas to Mississippi.
It’s really a sweet piece. I like the star Jerry engraved in the top of the guard.

Pretty awesome thread with some fantastic knives, ALL of them.
Great info from everyone, thanks for starting it Kevin !

Jim, it just dawned upon me, the iivory carbon steel Bird and Trout Sendero you have there is the first one that I made. After I made it I thought I should go trout fishing and try it out, hence they started changing a bit also from your first one.

I've always liked this pattern but never had an opportunity to get one. What I do have is one of Terry Primos' El Camino models, which qualifies as a "copy" of this overall shape. You know what they say about imitation....

Jerry created this Sendero for David Darom’s book “Custom Fixed-Blade Knives” in 2005.
I think the unique finger groove or trigger grip is pretty cool. I almost had a chance to grab it at one point but wasn’t quick enough. Natural Sambar stag, chain of fools engraving and raindrop damascus.

Kevin, this has to stop... now I want one! ;)

All very nice knives, but of what I've seen so far, this is my favorite:

Now, the 10 mammoth handled ones are also something else...

Love this thread!

Kind regards,

Jos

I paid something like $250 for my first Sendero, it was one of the first custom knives I owned. At some point some one talked me out of it. Great little hunter, in my view the best basic hunting knife design.

Thanks Jos and everyone for your partisipation.
Jos, that's one of my favorite pieces in my collection. It's the classic middle of the road Fisk Sendero, not too plain, not too fancy.

Senderos have consistently climbed in value over the years Matt. The most basic model is now around $1,200 and go straight up from there.

Here is a new (and improved?) picture of the Carbon and Walrus Sendero Jim posted earlier in this thread, which now has a new owner.
