The FK, demand and what could it's future be?

CPK knives look great and are priced OK
If they are priced too high people won't buy them
Right now the best bang for the buck for me is survive! Knives

Thanks for your input RR. S!K does provide a good value on their product. You do get a dependable solid knife when you take delivery. In my mind, the performance increase of the CPK products, and the relatively quick delivery times most have found are well worth the small increase in price.

I understand Guy and Ellie are trying to hit an even lower price point than Nathan and Jo, and have a huge amount of orders to show how well that has worked for them. But there is also a huge amount of discontent with the wait times. CPK does not have wait times like that. Almost everyone takes delivery within a couple weeks of paying. Nathan IMO has a better model from the delivery perspective, though not everyone has fit into it yet. I'm not even sure they are fairly compared as Nathan and Jo are a small 2 person shop doing almost everything in house, while also running a machine shop and doing work unrelated to CPK. S!K is a small craft style company that does a small fraction of their work in house, no offense intended but I think the differences are important to recognize.

I say this as the goal of this thread was to discuss if there was something that would help the discontents going away from the sales empty handed and feeling like CPK is not a good product for them, when in reality it probably is. Going cheaper certainly wouldn't help any party, thus I wondered if going more expensive would. And the future of the model. Which now for the most part has been answered.

I will be the first to say that I am not in any place to tell Nathan how to run his business, and every time I make a post like this I do ponder his calm demeanor. I wonder if my post will be the one to cross the line and when my phone will ring with Nathan telling me to knock it off. But I am always trying to be helpful even if I am on occasion critical. And of course I want to generate positive conversation on relevant topics, like the speed at which the FK is continuing to sell out and how or if I can help grow the community in the sub-forum.

At the end of the day that is why I proxy for people. It's one more person with a knife in their hand that wouldn't have had it otherwise, and those people are always ones that have read and posted on the forums, or participated positively in the community here.

Nathan wouldn't be the success he is without supporters, and I think the potential supporters who want more info, help getting a knife, sharing experiences or asking about suitability should find help here.

I'm going to retire the Field Knife because I'm tired of making it...

I feel for you sir, I guess it will be a different model that I will end up with, had my heart set on one of the FK but I imagine that about anything you put your mind to will be great.

I'm getting more and more excited by the survival knife
Making new models is key to keep people interested and sell more knives I would say
I'm sure I will get a CPK one day... just don't know when I will get lucky lol

I'm hoping to get a CPSK once they're released though I'm not sure of my chances considering there are a few individuals much quicker on the computer than myself who need to have multiples of each model for one reason or another.

Really hoping Nathan decides to do a preorder of that model as well as the EDC. If not, I guess I'll keep F5ing with fingers crossed.

Nathan is a nice guy... he will probably go for the pre orders
:D

Yes, in hindsight the idea would have been better kept private.
