The Flea Market Mung Absolution Thread

Oh. My. Goodness.... I didn't actually know one existed in that configuration, and now I am not sure how I feel. Some part of me want's to imagine the knife may be possible someday to see. Now that I know it exists, and am a little sick thinking about how I might find it and obtain it! It is gorgeous! This may have just become my grail knife!

Does anyone know where it may be now?

Post a WTB in the flea market thread with one of those pictures. The odds may be slim, but it's worth a shot.

Hey TRfromMT,

Abe (Scotcha) had a stunning ironwood bushboot at one point in time. I think he still has it, as I've tried to get him to let it go (to me) a few times. But it's not the dagger grind.

Nice to know they are out there! I am new to FF, and I can see that when the bug bites, it bites hard.

The Bushboot was the first one I wanted to have. I couldn't seem to find one that I liked - they seemed rare at the time. Then I found one. But what I've seen after only a year on here is an ebb and flow. Andy and the guys bring back old designs, try some new things, etc. For example, there was a bog oak craze a while back (of which I happily fueled the fires). Then an osage orange madness. I grabbed an ironwood old school karda a long time ago, and hadn't seen many like it. Then a little while back there were a few of them offered up. And at times something pops up on the Flea Market as well. I've had many people on here send me messages about knives they were selling because they had seen me comment on something way back when.

So if there's one bit of advice I can offer from one relative newbie to another, it is this; be patient. In the meantime, buy knives you like and support the Forge as you wait. Eventually you figure out what you really like, and at some point either your grail, or something close, comes around.

Thanks, Luca.
I've been contacted already by one seller with a couple of close candidates. Patience will be the key. I'll be keeping a close eye out for one that was on the shop work in progress post a couple days ago.

What a great problem to have.

KE Bushie is a sweet design. Kevin has a wilderness training company and blogs often on the Fiddleback Forge page. Here is one of my favorites that I had for a time:

etaOguf.jpg

It hits all the boxes for a dedicated bushcraft knife.

Someone please buy Crazyfinger's new never used Hiking Buddy 3/32 CPM154 Oreo burlap with a mosaic pin

Not only is it an awesome CPM 3/32 HB, it will help him out with some emergency medical expenses

That combo does not come around often.

I will also commit to sharpening any knife from his sale once for free after you use them as they were meant to be used.

Wait! What's the price on this one? :D

Honestly, I'd love to snag this combo but I'm afraid it would take me down an Oreo burlap rabbit hole.

Very nice offer on the sharpening to help out with things!

Yes. Someone really needs to buy that Hiking Buddy. That thing looks incredible.

Scotcha's Bush Hermit he just posted moved me for my first post here! Beautiful Ironwood, TT on 1/8" A2- ticks all my boxes. I hate being broke...

In the event your 3-year-old posts up a 3/32" blue Gaucho or Sylverfalcen, I call dibs, no backsies, etc.

:D

In the event my three year old posts up one of the knives, I'll probably send her instead of the knife.

Actually just picked up one of these for way too cheap from a buddy.

I cannot believe that Woodsman lasted all day. Gentlemen, thank you for letting me grab a grail!

nice snag:thumbup:

Allen was considering it as of 8:30 tonight when I got a text. Im always on the lookout for older knives. I just dont happen to care for wenge.

Honestly, Wenge would not have been my first choice, but it is not too bad either. Handle material aside, I LOVE the Woodsman design and have wanted a fat handle "Andy Roy" knife for while. That knife ticked too many boxes for me to let it go.
