The folder you most HATE?

Schrade Cliphanger. Interesting idea. Crap retention system, if I can call it that... :thumbdn: Next to impossible to open with "thumb ramp"... :thumbdn: and a linerlock that was shaped of the finest foil. :thumbdn: :thumbdn: :thumbdn:

I love Schrades, have an 8OT in pocket now and a 7OT in my glovebox, but this one sucked.

My thoughts exactly. The little retention clip on the lanyard would warp after a few months use and barely fit properly... the linerlock was so thin and useless you could defeat it by looking at the thing hard enough... Just crap overall. The gas station a mile from my house is selling them at $4.99, and they've had the same six on the shelf for almost a year now.

As a class, the Case lockback hunters I've bought on ebay have created the most frustration. They look so beautiful with their Gil Hibbon design and sambar stag handles. However, most of the time the amount of blade play just wrecks it. I should also say though that I did get lucky with a couple, and they are among my favorite knives. Also, I recently sent one to Case for a tightening, and they did it under warranty even though the knife was 25 years old and I wasn't the original purchaser.

I may be the only person that doesn't like this knife, but the Benchmade 690 does nothing for me. When I first saw it, okay, I thought it was cool, and then one thing after the other hit me.
1) swedge is pointless, except to reduce a TINY bit of weight, and doesn't do anything for the looks IMO.
2) SCALES DON'T MEET THE EDGE. Horrible way to make a knife.
3) The stabilized wood wasn't very well finished. It still had a matte look to it, like it needed finer paper or more buffing.
This is for the original model, even though their have been many other incarnations, I still can't get past the blade shape. :barf:

I have a Schrade 49OT that just does not fit my hand. I think its called Rhino and it kinda looks like one.

Otherwise seems to be ok.. Ya just like some and not the others.

Gerber 3.25 AR. Blade play out of box, annoying detent, I made the mistake of getting 50/50 combo edge, and it can't take or hold a good edge. I really do like the look and feel though. Too bad :(

Damn! Somebody beat me to it!

This HAS to be the absolute worst knife ever introduced by a quality knife company. Schrade makes good stuff, but this thing is an abomination!

It has a handle as ergonomic as a cactus, a blade that won't hold an edge, a retention system that doesn't work at all, a thumb opener that absolutely sucks, the roughest opening of any folder EVER, and a "liner lock" about as thick as rice paper! (with it "locked" open, you can move the blade toward the handle and watch the "liner lock" bow) The thing is an absolute piece of trash. I use mine as a grout scraper, and it barely functions at that job!

WHAT AN ABSOLUTE P.O.S.!!!!!!

The Schrade Cliphanger was a lousy knife. Everything was just bad about it (ergos, feel, edge--even after sharpening). One day, I realized I lost it. No regret I did whatsoever.

spyderco dodo!!! Yeah I know, everyone loves this knife but me!! The first one I got would close sometimes just by pushing on the blade. I tried to take it apart to clean it or something but could not get the screws to loosen, including the clip screw, so much for trying to move or remove it, but I digress. I used it as a work knife as I work in a lab so it would just be light duty. I love the blade shape and it turned out to be very useful. It seemed to quit accidently closing as well!! Then I lost it at work and ordered another one. This one has the opposite problem, I can hardly move that damn bb to close it, not one-handed anyway. I got a blister on my finger trying to break it in. There was some G-10 that caught on the spring making the piston stick but I chipped that off.

I could have gotten a burgandy calypso instead!!!! I'll be glad when my fingernail grows back. It shouldn't take over a year to break a knife in! The new one is never going to break in.

I don't have a lot of years in experience, but I've had a few knives let me down.

The worst is a Kershaw Scallion I have. The liner lock it has is a joke, and the blade play is terrible.

I have a Cold Steel Recon1 with terrible blade play, and the crappiest serrates I've ever seen. With only a few uses, they were breaking off.

I've been focusing solely on Spydercos for about a year. Of all the models I've purchased, only one let me down.

The Native III has an awesome handle, but I find that it's cutting ability doesn't hold a candle to the other Spyders I own.

I received one of those Clip-Hangers as a gift. Yeah it sucks all right, but I wasn't terribly suprised.

The folder I'm most disappointed about was a Queen Button Lock. The Button Lock froze after a short period. I sent the knife back to Queen. They wouldn't fix it, and couldn't sent me another since the model was discontinued. I believe they sent a refund.

I had a Smith and Wesson folding knife a few years back that deteriorated, and then fell apart. The thing had so much blade play that it wouldn't cut. These S&W knives are very poorly built, and I can't understand why Smith and Wesson puts their name on them. Their guns are great.

I also will never buy an assisted opener. I've tried the SOG assisted knives and I just see no benefit to having the blade fling open. If you have to use the thumb stud to get it partway open, just do the rest yourself. I hate these knives, which is sad because SOG makes such good stuff.

I do not really care for liner locks. They just do not seem as sturdy as something like a good old Buck 110. They also clog up with gunk.

Just my 2 cents,
