The Frozen Ham Challenge - I Shoulda Used A Busse or Carothers 😂

As part of certifying jet engines we perform a bird shoot test: firing prescribed birds into the blades of a perfectly good engine. Even we know you gotta thaw the birds out first.

Piece of wisdom learned from our axe-welding forefathers- keep the metal warm. Cold makes metal brittle and more prone to breaking. The axemen during the winter would keep the bits close to their bodies to keep them warmer. Then, Unlike your typical kitchen experience, the chopping blows of an axe continues to warm the metal through friction.

Untimely guests i.e stepchild and his clan - decided to surprise his mom with a visit so our dinner plates increased from wife/me to 6 more mouths to feed. They typically show up with their usual thing to share - empty stomachs. 🤨

Isn't cutco kitchen knives made in 440A? I hear they can't even be sharpened, the company just replaces it with a new one when it's sent in.
I resharpened a butcher knife by them. It eventually took a good edge, but it took a while. Factory edge was burned or something and it was chippy for a bit.

I just want to know if Cutco replaces the knife.

As long as it wasn’t sold as a “second”, they’ll laugh at the story of going apeshit on a ham, explain that a slicing knife isn’t intended for that use and tell you to be more careful with the new one.

My rep laughed when he heard my story and said - you probably should buy our cleaver. I told him nope - the next time in-laws want to stop in to surprise their mom - I am going to tell them to be sure to not to come hungry or bring something for all. 😂 He gave me instructions for replacement. He said send $10 for return shipping with his rep#.

Instructions should anyone need them:

1.) wrap each piece of Cutco in newspaper, paper towel, or bubble wrap.
2.) place in a BOX used for shipping things (*not a big envelope)
3.) write a note, that says how many items are in the box, what is wrong with them, and to
“please sharpen, polish, or replace and return to ‘your name and return address’ ” and "Cutco Rep name and employee #. Put the paper in the box with your Cutco.
4.) write a check made out to Cutco for the return shipping cost
(1-5 pieces = $10)
(6-10 pieces = $12)
(11-25 pieces = $15)
(26-40 pieces = $18)
Put the check in the box with your note as well.
5.)Take the box to UPS, FED EX, or the POST OFFICES and ship the box to:
