The Gary House big sword invitational

Hey Gary, All the thanks goes to you.

Folks Gary and his wife, Mary Joe opened their home and shop to all of us. they fed us (well) and put up with a bunch of soot and grime covered blade smiths and worked their tails off to succesfully put on the best invitational gathering ever.

PLEASE GIVE THEM A BIG ROUND OF APPLAUSE

Bill / Gary,
Thank you for asking me to tag along for this wonderful weekend. I had so much fun I'm still trying to remmember everything that happened. Until a month ago I never even heard of Tamahagane. I now have a new found hunger to learn more about this. ( That will be a journey for another day).
Also I would like to thank all the Mastersmith's that took time out of the festivities to look over my knives. I know have a much better understanding of what needs to be done before I get to Blade.

Thanks again to all,

Bing

No problem Bing, I enjoyed looking at your knives and I probably learned as much as you did.

Such a great series of pictures. Wish I could have been there to learn. What salt concentration was the water quench? And what temp do you keep the quench tank at?

There was no salt in the water and there was no temperature control, it was what it was.
