The GEC Production Database Thread

IDK how you link me like that but thank you! you've been a big help.
When I joined here, it was sort of challenging to get the same info you are now seeking. It has gotten much easier.

It was a couple of years before I figured out how to score a TC Barlow for example.

Darren's graphs and stats are super interesting and helpful.

well to show how new I am to this... what is a TC Barlow?

Nope…only NW runs.
That’s cool. Then the Rendezvous knife giraffe bone 39’s were a first for GEC.

I am wondering if there is a surge in popularity or demand for giraffe bone, or if it is now easier to find, or used to replace some other harder to find materials.
I am not the best follower of traditional cover materials, but I do not remember it being used (regularly, at least) before the past couple of years. I remember Alberts producing a very popular model with that bone, last year(?) and now GEC and have seen it being used in laguiole knives lately.

Again, maybe I was not paying much attention to that material before Alberts used it.

Disregard this post. What I was thinking was camel bone not giraffe

its quite possible. Several rendezvous ago, Bill explained the nuances of obtaining stag, the various forms of stags to be got, and the difficulty in obtaining stags for production. I suppose the anecdote can be extrapolated to apply to various animals. Now take that story and apply it to the explanation we got for marrow bone when the 86s were run. And once more for giraffe or camel. Cows as I understand, they slaughter quite frequently. The rest its more of a collection gathering operation.

Also to consider is the fact that giraffe was added to the cites list in 2019. Bringing an added level of paperwork and approvals to go with the gathering operation.
