The Gift Thread!!

This is a cool idea, Charlie. waynorth waynorth

The best thing about gifting is not expecting anything in return. Just a kind gesture of friendship. It’s just stuff and if we can put a smile on someone’s face (friend or someone we don’t even know), that is the goal.

I don’t need recognition, it’s not why I do it. I do it for the pure joy that I can brighten someone’s day, if even for a second.

Just in the last 6 months I've had two lambsfoot knives come to me as gifts that would be the pinnacle of just about any collection. Barrett btb01 btb01 gave me the one and only cranberry relish jigged bone GL-24, and Ed Modoc ED Modoc ED gave me his one of five fileworked stag and Damascus A. Wright lambs.

I also was fortunate enough to win a couple of giveaways in 2024. An ebony 110 from Chris Badger28 Badger28 , and a micarta 75 stockman from Matt Matt_WY Matt_WY .

I have received gifts "out of the blue" from Bob Rufus1949 Rufus1949 and Duncan Campbellclanman Campbellclanman , and giveaways from Paul Jakeywax31 Jakeywax31 , Jon abbydaddy abbydaddy and several others. The spirit of camaraderie is alive and well on the Traditionals forum.

Great idea for a thread Charlie waynorth waynorth ! I definitely have a few I’ll be sharing here. 😁

This landed yesterday. pat9198 pat9198 Is trying to convert me into a modern Case guy. I haven’t had much luck with them but this one is excellent. Great fit and finish and this bone is gorgeous. Thanks for the generous gift my friend.

Glad you like it Paul, and thanks for being a good friend! I’ll never give up on Case knives completely, just out of sentimental reasons, and I always get excited when they release something in carbon steel.

Great idea for a thread Charlie!! My best friend Sharp & Fiery Sharp & Fiery sent me this stuff the other week😍. I’ve got some ideas to pay him back but he’s like me, what do you get someone who has everything? 🤣 (The City Stock is mine) And the neck knife was for my son 😍😍😍

Coleman is a generous fellow on all fronts. He also has excellent taste... I don't envy the man trying to come up with a gift for him - he's got amazing kit!

Secret kit even... kit so sharp it would hurt our feelings if only he had the need to flex ;)

Well now...Speaking as the OhFishil Australian Agent of Waynorth/Buffalo brand pocketknives...I can honestly say I have been trawling the net for that scene out of Mad Max (original) for the

" where can we find ...this agent ?" scene.
Incidentally one of those motorbike stuntmen lives in the retirement village just down the road....small world.

Hatchet_Jack Hatchet_Jack ....one of the keenest Lambsfooters and in general a great supporter of Charlies knives sent me this beautiful R Klaas..Solingen....coke bottle? Ebony....I believe made for the Australian market...Thanks Mate..Cheers.

Furthermore as far as gifting goes I feel blessed and proud to have been the recipient of quite a few Waynorths...starting back with the Walnut Barlow...in the murky depths of Porchenberg Swamp. Not to say I didn't pay the fare....but I say here and now It's a privilege. This "thread"as we call it extends across the sky and over the ocean...I think that"s a good thing.x

What a wonderful idea for a thread! Thanks for starting it Charlie.

I've been blessed with an embarassing amount of generosity from friends here. I'll share the ones I have pics of.

This old lambsfoot was a present from Modoc ED Modoc ED . I had long admired it when one day it showed up in my mailbox.

I'll share some more when I have time.

This is post from November 19, 2019. I will never forget the generosity of these fine gentlemen. Thanks again guys!
Mail Call
From Down Under to Waynorth and Places In Between

I should have known something was up when Duncan asked me for my address a few weeks ago, saying he wanted to send me "some wee Kiwi thing". Well the thought of a wee Kiwi thing seemed a little scary, but I'm game!

Next thing I know Charlie ( waynorth waynorth ) is sending me a "Mail Call" message that included a picture of USPS packages along with the message that he, along with Paul (@paulhilborn ), Duncan ( Campbellclanman Campbellclanman ), Neal (@herder ), Dave (@knowtracks ) and Mike (@Mike Robuck ) were sending something my way.

What a huge surprise I got! A Waynorth Cutlery cap and a Case-Bose 2011 Coffin Jack arrived in my mailbox. I'm totally blown away by the thoughtfulness and generosity of these wonderful people. I don't see how I deserve such a gift, but I am thankful for it.

We've got a great community here on "The Porch", and these individuals with their contributions in knowledge, their passion for traditional knives, along with their friendly and helpful attitudes, add to the good feeling that permeates this Traditional Forum. We're lucky to have them here.

Thanks for your support and friendship, guys!

The best of the holidays to all of you and your families!

What a perfect example of this wonderful knife. I promise to carry and treasure it.
The hat will be worn with pride!

I bought this very nice horsehide pocket pouch years ago. I've been saving it for something special. Well, this Coffin Jack is it.

This thread is gaining a nostalgia flavor!!👴
I must be getting old; I don't remember all of the stuff attributed to me, or others!!
Thanks everyone for bringing it back up!! It makes for a pleasant read of a thread!!
I thought we'd cover future gifting, but I love what is happening here!!🙏

Yep, future gifts. I've been here long enough that if I tried to post all the gifts I've received over the years, I know I'd overlook someone, and feel terrible about it.

However...

Here's one that showed up last summer, from a fellow who goes by waynorth waynorth .

In that knife roll is a cool old Pruner, a nifty little Harness Jack, a string of glass beads hand made by Charlie himself, and a W.D.Herbert Harness Jack that's gotten a lot of pocket time recently.
