The guilty pleasures thread

Bought the Tenacious to prove nothing from China is good. It taught me a lesson! Should have known if Spyderco name was on it it would rock. Not up to the level of the Golden, Taiwan or Japan made but a good knife in its own right. None the less I'll stick to Golden made from now on.

The Tenacious is what made me start to care about knives, it was so much nicer and interesting than any folding knife I'd seen before. I ended up dropping $120 on a Yojimbo 2 a few days later because I figured if a $35 Tenacious was so cool, what could an expensive Spyderco be like?

So what song is the earworm of the week or whatever?

Just like in general? Rapp Snitch Knishes by MF Doom or anything by Dance Gavin Dance

A funny man.

But being the type who has to work around children when certain jobs come calling, one comes to learn there are certain songs to that show that remain in your head even when you don't want them to be there in the first place.

Okay enough teasing for poor RatPatrol, it's not his fault that he's been afflicted. Ponies are more communicable/contagious than norovirus on a cruise ship.

My guilty pleasure is a bit more guilty than what anybody else has presented yet. And you're about to see why.

I like shivs, especially the ones that are very unique in design and leaves you wondering just how an inmate went about constructing such a specimen. This one is my own construction, based on an existing design made from a piece of actual stainless steel. I'm ashamed to say that I like making them since I can easily afford better.

Welcome, Brony. All are welcome to the ancient admiration if the sharpened edge. Mankind's oldest tool.

Haha I was legitimately confused by the song question. Admittedly I am behind on the recent season so no idea what the popular songs are atm.

guilty pleasure
Something that you shouldn't like, but like anyway.
"A cigarette every now and then is a guilty pleasure for me."

For me it's my Böker Magnum Italian Classic Stiletto. :eek:

Yes, it's a mallninja-esque switchblade. Yes, it's assisted open. Yes, it's something you can get off of BUDK for under 20 bucks. Yes, it's not the most well made knife...
I readily admit to all of those and yet...

I really like this damn thing!

I like the flipper action on it and have always liked the design aesthetic of the old Italian stilettos. I took off the pocket clip and gave it a brushed finish with some 400 grit sandpaper.
Do I feel like a rebel without a cause? Maybe a little. :o

(I was going to start a new thread but right before I did I thought better of it and did a quick google search "guilty pleasure bladeforums"...)

Oh great! Like a fool, I clicked on Pinkie Pie. Now I have an over the top, sickly sweet song stuck in my head. The rest of today is going to be hellish.

Wait till my wife gets home and ask why I am smiling and I have to explain by showing this to her. Then I will have to listen to her sing this for the next couple of days.

Thanks.

So, what you're saying is that everypony is smile smile smiling?

Thirds on the Cold Steel Ti-Lite. Much better than I thought it would be.

I'd forgotten all about this thread. And now it looks like the laughs are continuing.

Much as I hate to say it, I can't think of any knife I have that qualifies as a guilty pleasure.

Aside from my $15 schrade I've mentioned before, i bought for work and I like more and more the more I use it, great knife for the price;

There's these 2

A <$20 s&w is just a big hunk of metal, if the glass breaking tip ever didn't work I could just throw the damn thing at a window and shatter it out. 440c blade is what sold it for me;
And the Kilimanjaro vertice was <$10, I added it to a shopping cart to bump the price up for free shipping. Figured pay $6 for shipping or get another cheap knife out of the deal for about the cost of shipping; Heavy for a skelatonized handle but I like it.
Both are actually very tightly assembled, if anything maybe a hair tighter then I would I like, but that's 100x better then being loose and having blade wobble or a liner lock at risk of failing.
I confess, despite any bad reviews or other's opinions/experiences regarding the brands or models, these cheap knives are all in my good graces amongst their more expensive brethren... Are they "perfect", absolutely not, but I don't have super high expectation when I buy a cheap budget knife, only that they're sharp(enable) enough to be considered actual knives. So far they all exceeded my expectations considering their price points though.
