The "hall of meat"... (Graphic Injury Pics)

Put a cqc6 wave in my back pocket. Wallet opened it up and this happened.

Aye chihuahua! So you just reached in for your wallet and the Emerson filleted your thumb? Damn... I can see that happening. That's an ugly one man. Heal quick!

Yeah that's basically what happened. The good thing/bad thing was I just sharpened it the night before. And it was one of my most successful sharpening jobs yet, thing was damn sharp. That was good because I would have hurt more if it wasn't sharp, bad because it maybe would not have gone as deep.

That was a few months ago though, it's all healed now.

I couldn't find the hospital pic of my last good "bite" but this the daily reminder; friction saw a few years back, thankfully I didn't lose my finger, but it was a perfect cut as it was deep enough it nicked the bone, but was so perfectly centered it also only nicked both tendons without severing either, so back to 95% functionality!
(Lost 5% flexibility a few years before that taking a softball right off the tip of my finger and destroying the knuckle).

Smashed my right, index-finger in a log splitter a few years ago. Looks 'normal' now, but I think it's why I can't seem to love the compression lock, or flippers. There's a little feeling in it these days, but it's still pretty numb. Not sure if I should post a picture, lol. There is definitely bone sticking out, haha.

Here's a link instead of the photo. Forewarning - it's a little more 'graphic' than other pics in this thread. ;)

It looks normal enough now, but it still feels mostly numb.

EDIT - someone always asks, but no it isn't 'shorter' or anything. Lol, it magically came back to life.

But I think it explains my distain for flippers, and the compression lock could have a bit more purchase for my dopey finger. Lol.

Yeeesh! I'm out if we're going to go full frontal gore. Oh....That's not so bad........I thought you were talking dissecting bison or something

Peter

Yeah that's about my average knife cut.

I forgot my usual one handed knives and used my SAK to do something at work. I was using that tiny blade and went to close it one handed only I was pushing against the edge instead of the back.

It wasn't too bad, not as bad as if I had shoved a thumb against by zdp endura and pushed.

WOW!!!!

How does the patina look when you washed the blood off?

That's also one for the "you know you're a knife knut when . . . "

Hah! I can contribute. This is what happens when you're drunk and lend someone your knife (who also happens to be drunk:))...

"Here's your knife bro! Catch!!!"

i don't have a picture, but a while back on my middle finger, i was with one of my buddies in the woods, and i was carving and i decided to cut towards me (stupid me) and i sliced my middle finger really bad. it bled for maybe 30 min before it stopped but its fully healed now, even though it did take a few months to fully heal! take a look at this link to see the picture https://www.flickr.com/photos/127179937@N08/shares/4S6928

Well I was testing my 0350 late at night, which was a terrible idea now that I think about it, and I decided to try to cut some thin ply wood. I am a Boy Scout but I forgot the most important rule for using knives and that is to always cut away from yourself. Well I placed my hand on the ground to steady the wood and begin to hammer into the wood. Keep in mind this is at midnight and I'm being stupid. Well the knife does what a knife does and cuts into the wood all the way down and into the top of my thumb and gouging into the bone. Blood splurged out instantly and I clamped my thumb shut while I waited for bleeding to stop. I believe it might have gotten a vein or something since there was just soo much blood. Well adrenaline kicked in and the bleeding eventually stopped at which point I supreglued it shut. I would've gotten 5 stitches or so since it spans across the back of my thumb. This was months ago and I still haven't fully recovered from the cut. I'll try to get pics up later. Was probably one of the worst things I've ever experienced since the recurve on the blade wrapped itself around my thumb making it worse if it had been just a straight blade. I'm just greatful it was sharp and not serrated.

No pictures but I managed to slash the top of my thumb with my brand new BM Mini Grip. I had just sliced a bag of ice open and rather than close the knife I left it open as I dumped the ice into my cooler. Pure dumbass move and I knew it was, but did it anyway. Lesson learned.

I neglected to use the guard on my sharp maker and slipped, tapping my (thankfully only mildly sharp) 275 agamas on the back of my thumb, didn't go too too deep as it wasn't that sharp, but it could've been really nasty.

I have an almost identical scar on my left index finger. My scar was from when I was about 7 (now 28). My Pop (grandfather) was trying to teach me how to whittle, and still to this day I don't know how it happened. I believe it was done with a small Frost candy striped stockman. Pop could sharpen a knife.

Go to "photobucket.com". Sign up for an account. Upload your pictures. All of this is EASY. No problem.
Ok, after you have some photos uploaded, click on one you want to post. Then, at the bottom of the picture, you'll see an icon that looks like an "i" inside of a circle. Click on it.
It will bring up a menu with different options. The one you want is the "IMG" option. Copy that and paste it into your post. Voila! Pictures. Easy, peasy.
Try it out. It's easy, and it works.

Yes indeed sir! Wash the blood off? Heck no, why waste a nice patina opportunity?!

Here's how it looks:

Wow, You guys have some gnarly wounds compared to my baby looking cut. Two years ago while hiking on a wet day and was doing some fire prep when I got careless, knife slipped in hand and my edge passed through my gloves and some flesh. My girlfriend got to practice some first aid ( not the mouth to mouth kind ) and after a 3 hour hike out and 2 hour drive to the hospital got it stitched up with minor minor tendion damage that still is pain during cold snaps in the winter here. Girlfriend just had to take some pictures.

Had to put fresh brake pads on the car last night. One of the caliper bolts felt like it was welded on. I started whacking on the wrench with a ball pein to break it loose. Well I did break it loose but first I gave my pinky a good whack!
Split it open, bruised it, and left a nice blood blister as a bonus. It's not very big, but it bled like crazy and made me see stars when it happened.
