The HEST folder. (production model)

Man I'm sorry to hear that. I wish both of you got one like mine. It's very very solid I will report back and keep you all updated.

How long have you had/been using your Hest folder. Im just curious because of the exdperiences that I have had.

Fail, no. Wiggle, yes.

I would agree. As i'm reading more of these threads, I realize i might be one of the rare people that got one that worked, instead of you guys being the rare ones that got one that didn't. I hope dpx does something to their next design to fix these issues.

I'm on my second production model now and it seems to be holding up fine lock wise. The first one I had too about a month for the lock to slip and fail. I sent that back and now I'm carrying the replacement (going on about two weeks now). The only thing I saw (or in this case felt) that was different between the two knives was this replacement opened a lot smoother than my original one. My original needed a little tweaking with the pivot and lots of opening and closing to work in, but the replacement is perfect in that regard.

DPX customer service was great IMO, but hopefully I won't have to use them again.

I'm hoping the lock stays put on this since I really like the design. I'd still like to know what changes if any will be made to the second run.

.....
DPx/Lionsteel still apparently thinks that there is no problem.
..........

As I have already written we have studied a lot of all the problems that we had with the first run, and we have always try to find a solution for everyone.

In this moment there is a second run in production, It have got a structure and geometry improvements.
We have also reduced the ramp angle on the blade.

If online sellers like NewGraham don't have stock of the HEST folder, does that mean when they do... it will be the second generation version?

I just picked up a 1st production run from Niagara in the Exchange and Its my third Hest so Far. And I must say, This one is by far the smoothest opening and has the strongest lock out of the three I have handled. It feels very well built. I love the knife ,but sold two thinking that I didnt want one and then ultimately ended up with another for my EDC.

I really love the knife. Yeah I had some problems, but DPX and Lion Steel are standing by their product. So I Had to wait a few weeks to get a replacement back, and when it showed up I wasnt happy because the lock was sliding. But, no matter what, I could have gotten another replacement no questions asked from DPX. It is one of the only knives that I actually feel comfortable taking apart and knowing that I can tweak, clean, etc.. without any worries about reassembly and operation afterwards. And at the end of the day, if the lock starts to fail or slip or something else happens, Ill send it to DPX and they will give me another one.

I got three bad ones in a row. First one had lock slippage that got worse with use so I sent it in. The replacement had up and down blade play but no lock slippage so I sent it back. The third one had the same thing, up and down play but no slippage hmmmmm. Anyway, I like the design but I will be getting a refund and maybe I will pick up a second production run in the future. Blade play, especially on a $175 knife is my biggest pet peeve.

Oh ya the rotoblock is cool but I don't need the word "lock" with an arrow pointing in the locking direction, I know its only aesthetic but it looks cheesy. I mean come on, there is only two directions it can move if you can't figure out which direction locks it, you probably should not be using the knife. Also I think the "hest" writing on the clip should be removed. Once again this is only my opinion on the aesthetic aspects of the knife, I do not intend to anger or insult anyone in anyway.

I got a LE sterile model when they were introduced and all in all have had a very good experience with it. I have also been impressed with Lionsteels responce to all issues concerning the knife. My example has very good fit and finish, I really have no complaints there. Now RYP himself needs to hire somebody with atleast average people skills to represent the company. I was constantly surprised at the way he carried himself and treated others but that has nothing to do with Lionsteel. I wouldn't hesitate to do business with Lionsteel again and have been closely eyeing the AL SR-1.

Any new news about when there will be more available?

As written before, our target is production available for Blade Show.
In this moment everyting in production are going well, I hope that there will be not delay

Sorry, didn't know what/when Blade Show is.

So when dealers have them available, it will be the second generation of the knife?

Thanks.
