Dave K, before you get to feeling too stupid, why not send your attempt to Yvsa and see what he says? You may have done better than you think, in which case Yvsa will inform you.

On the other hand, if you are right, at least a friend can get a good laugh about it.
 
Well, the next thing I'm going to do with it (just for the hell of it) is to put in one of those little hearts just to see if I can do it.

Then it will be about ready for polishing and a handle.

I still need to do something about the back of the hawk head where I cut off the hammer head, too.

Overall it is probably way too small, but I will put a handle on it anyway to see how it feels.

If it's not too late - I'd like to add my name to the "I'd love to have a hawk" list. I think the spike would be the way to go, but I'm interested in whatever comes in.
