Prelude92 kind of emailed me out of the blue last night in response to a message I sent him about a month ago and asked me if I wanted to buy a 3" XM.
Long story short...I've got a 3" bead blasted, flipper, slicer coming in from Kevin (Prelude92)...but that's not the end of the story...
After we made the deal, he tells me that he bought the XM a month or so ago off the USN from a guy in Hawaii. At the time he had the opportunity to buy a 3" textured bronze ti scale that was on the knife but couldn't swing it at the time...and he's been kicking himself ever since....
Turns out that a buddy of mine who trades a lot - and keeps an eye out for XMs for me - emails me about a month ago and says he can get me a 3" textured bronze ti scale, if I'm interested...but it'll take a little while because it's coming from a guy in the USN from Hawaii.....
So the knife and scale started out in Hawaii.....knife went to Mississippi....scale went to Saskatchewan (Canada) then onto Toronto (Canada) and I get a totally unexpected email yesterday which will end up reuniting the two again in Canada....weird, huh?
 
^ Thats a crazy story Ross! I love when a knife has a cool story behind it. It makes it that much more special. Congrats buddy! I've been hunting a textured ti scale for well over a year now. It's nice that it just fell into your lap like that. Haha. Lucky!!!

Thanks for sharing, Ross! Such a small world. The knife and scale were destined to be together! Never to depart. I'm glad that this one's going to a great Hinderer lover and adding to the "collection". ;) super cool man!
 
Well I've finally pulled the trigger on an XM-18 and I should have it inbound shortly. Pretty excited. Was going to wait till blade show and try my hand at the lottery but a fair price popped up and I snagged one. I'm sure you guys will see plenty of pictures when she arrives.
 
Thanks guys. I'm pretty excited. Have been looking at them for a while and enjoying lurking on this sub forum and didn't go looking for one today but it just happened that way.
 
Waiting on hinderer to get in the first responder batch then I will be ordering an 18 3.5" slicer. Been wanting one for a while but not willing to pay $250+ over MSRP.
 
I've bought and later sold all of my XM's, but always end up wanting another after time goes by without one. Spantos, slicers, 3", 3.5", flipper, non-flipper. Found a new 3.5" slicer at a dealer today in 'marsh green'. Should be here tomorrow and I'm as excited as I was years ago when I got the first one, and the one after that, and after that.... :D

It's truly a sickness, but as all my fellow blade addicts say I'm hoping to hang on to this one!
 
BigRed welcome back ! The slicer will serve you well, as of yet I still don't own a slicer, on the list though.
 
Big_Red, I had a similar experience. I had a spanto, traded it for a knife that I now want to trade for another XM:)
 
^ that very scale was on my spear point about 10 days ago haha. Congrats! That is a really good example of smooth cf. great holographic properties and a very uniform pattern too.
