This is not a Basic-8...

Gave new life to an old and worn Basic-7; satin finish, large choil, 7 1/8" blade with a dropped point and a convex edge:

No fancy tools here, just a basic 200w bench grinder:

A Dremel-Tool and a 1" pipe with some 240 grit wet sanding paper to finish off the choil:

Putting on a convex edge with a mouse pad, starting with 240 grit and ending with 1200. Finishing off with some stropping:
