Hello ... which Spydie is that? OEM or modded?

Damn good looking.

Thanks Guy!

That pic is pretty much a Bill Siegle “mini showcase”. He modded both knives—added the HOGB8 swedge as described above and the other is a CPM10V Farid K2 which started life with an upswept point good for skinning but not much else. I asked him to re-grind the spine at an angle that made the clip dead straight while preserving as much blade length as possible. Started out with a 4 1/2” blade and is now 4 1/4”—just outstanding.

In my mind this is the knife the Millie should have been.:cool:

Very nice. I especially like how you have the vision to improve the lines/look of a blade and the wherewithal to follow through and make it your own.

A high compliment coming from a man of your style and taste! Thanks, brother—very generous of you. Have to give Bill the credit on these, though. He does make my daydreams and doodles look good.

Posting some pics here for safekeeping, and as a reference for “posterity”.

First a few shots of the stepped-down tang on a HOGB8, courtesy of Boss1911. He was kind enough to take these photos for us after removing the Res-C, in preparation for building a custom handle:

So almost a quarter inch of INFI still left in the tang, and he says that thickness is uniform all the way back. Meatier than I expected! Thank you, sir! 👍👍👍

And finally a precise weight check on my War Feather with aftermarket swedge by Bill Siegle:

Can you post more pics of that modded war feather? Looks amazing!

Thanks. Nice pics. 👍This thread brings back memories. Love what you're doing with the handle, Ironic. ETA : Thanks. I mean Boss1911.

Yeah, a lot of fun in this old thread. Thanks to Boss1911 for the tang pics. It’s his custom handle project. The photos are from his thread here:

He was gracious enough to let me share them.👍
I really like what Jerry did with the tang, btw. Together with the blade profile options that were offered, the design is pretty amazing from a production knife company. Just goes to show how committed he is to giving us what we want, and improving it to the Nth degree with his knowledge, experience and technical expertise. Thanks again, Jerry!

Some of these have been posted before, including on the preceding page of this thread, but to your request, here you go.👍

Absolutely stunning! I have been daydreaming about pulling mine apart and grinding the ricaso down just past the talon hole to get rid of some weight. It would lose chopability though so I'm hesitant. Would probably make the balance point neutral making it more of a fighter. Ahhh if I had more time and money to mess with such things. Definitely need to add a swedge to mine though!

Wow... As you can see by the page count, these were some good times. Wow, that's not what I expected to see under the Res-C at all. Lot of work. If I remember right, I think this was my first res-c handle of any kind and was quite reserved on it. But then, when I used it? to really chop? I fell in love and have several others in the pile now.

That's a nice grind on the Warfeather! Looking forward to see how it comes out.

Apologies for going off-topic here after all this time, but in the spirit of this thread’s history, couldn’t resist posting a couple of recent “adventure pics”. 😄

It’s the culmination of the 11-year solar cycle and a great time to see the aurora.

The hiking pics below of Cheryl and me were in Denali National Park, just an easy day hike along the Savage River, obviously very low this time of year:

Better shot of Denali taken from a good vantage point on the highway north of the park:

At over 20,000’ elevation Denali looms well above the flanking peaks of the Alaska Range. Denali means “Tall One”. It’s the highest peak in North America. The park is six million acres!

Thanks again to all who posted here. And hats off again to Jerry for providing us with one of the great outdoorsmen’s knives of all time!
