A low number and 420.

I had a low number once. :(

Okay... I gotta tell you all a tale of regret...

Hearing they were full flat really bummed me out. I was certain that this change had killed the utility of this knife, already being thin at 0.22". I cancelled my order. Numbers 9-12 back into circulation.

While I still think the full convex would have been the height of perfection, I received a B8 that I had proxied for another fella. Dang, in person, it's clear that they are still very capable in what is otherwise the perfect combination of size weight and performance. I snagged a pair off the exchange and I'm glad I did. One is my keeper and the other will likely be my wife's. Both sporting Mashed Cat taco pants!

I don't really regret or care about missing out on the low numbers, although it was pretty cool to be getting them. I hope that one of those numbers finds its way to you guys. What I really regret was cancelling my order through the shop. Lexi and Pokey were super busy and I know that when a knife with options also has serial numbers, this increases their workload as they swap handle colors or people trade numbers out. Sorry for adding to that workload, girls. :o

However, all that said, I have made a few changes recently that have put me into a very good spot with my own personal collection. The Basic 8 is my primary user as it can be stuffed into any backpack without adding a huge amount of bulk or reducing function over its larger, heavier brethren. This knife is pretty awesome and I can't wait to hear from you folks who are still waiting for yours.

I'll definitely add a few backups of this knife when I can. One for every pack, each car, etc. :D

And on the subject of regret, I'm also pretty excited to be righting a previous wrong. One of my grails (well, not the exact one that I sold off) is on its way to me - with a brief stop in Idaho. My four knives, all users, will represent four different steels from the Bussekin shop.

Glad you were able to snag some replacement blades, and your description sums up my feeling about this knife perfectly. I was scratching my head early on about the amazingly sloppy weight and grind errors in the original ganzaa post--very disconcerting. Could not have been happier when mine came in.

Howler's big brother...

I think the green background does funky things to the photo colors.

There's a brass ring I attached to the backside of the sheath. It hooks to a brass hook on a pouch that I made for my leatherman wave. I'll try to get a pic a bit later today.

Let's see how this works...

I really like the simplicity of the hook and ring. It's super easy to take on or off. If I'm not carrying a knife, I can use the hook for other things - gloves, keys, etc. I am making another, simpler hook that attaches on the waist belt of my pack so that I can unclip from one and switch to the other as needed.

I'm working on ways to improve the attachment of the ring to the sheath. Right now, I just drilled a hole and attached it with a rivet. The head of the rivet interferes a bit with the handle so I am playing with a separate kydex piece that the ring is attached to that wraps around the sheath from front to back and attaches with chicago screws. The alternative is to heat and reshape the small area with the rivet to accommodate it. :)

Very cool! I like the idea of a quick release,,sometimes sitting by the fire with a dangler can be a little annoying... I may have to go that direction!
