Envy you that one, bro'. That's the cartridge Winchester should have produced to begin with in 1954, rather than the .458 Win Mag.

Ruger No. 1 Tropical? Leupold?

Tell us about your rig and what you plan to clobber with it--looks Gr8! 9148!:cool:

Sorry for the l8 reply guys, had a Loooong day yesterday.

Yes Sir, the No.1 is a stainless Tropical that I added Ruger express sights to and had Jack Huntington bead blast. Then my Friend, Randy Fung, of Fung's Costom Grips stippled the grip and forend for one of my birthdays. The Leupold Scout scope works perfect when you add a Limbsaver pad. It's been to Africa with me twice now and has accounted for Kudu, Gemsbuck, Waterbuck, Nyala and Zebra...

Had no idea you'd hunted in Africa, my friend--sooooo jealous! What made the pug mark over the tire tracks--can't quite make out the toes? Lion?

Gr8 Gr8 rifle--super nice beadblast job! Pure form-follows-function beauty.

Using the Scout long-eye-relief scope and extended l-o-p looks like an effective way to keep the scope rim away from your eye.

Thanks Will. Yeah, I've been very lucky to have had the hunting opportunities I've had for sure.

That was a leopard track that crossed the road after we had passed through earlier in the day (that was our tire track).

Had a Battle Rat with me on the first trip and a Custom Shop Vex with me on the second trip.

A BEight would have been Gr8!

Thanks Will. I have no clue, I've never thrown a tape on them. I'm just happy and fortunate that I had an opportunity at a few nice representatives of each species. Oh, and they tasted great and fed a good many folks.

I'll try and post a few pics that I really liked from the hunts later.

Nice pics of your trophys!!!

We have those Gemsbok's (Oryx) here roaming the White Sands Missile Range and they are Awnrrrry Critters been known to attack vehicles and punch through the doors!!! Got one quite few years ago on a depredation hunt (once in a lifetime) Used the .458 Win Mag as a matter of fact cuz they are tough critters!! Thanx for the Photos..:thumbsup:

Hell I used to live in Ruidoso. Wish I'd known you were in the area, Busto. You guys are full of surprises today! I drew several times but never connected on an oryx tag. Congrats!

Dang...who knew...30 years at NASA here on the Cruces side of the Missile Range...Ruidoso the place to be this time of year as the sun heats up the desert or maybe over in High Rolls...

Ships in the night. Oh well. Any pics of the "ore ox" lying around? (That seemed to be the pronunciation favored by the ranchers north of the white sands whose fences were regularly torn up by oryx.:D)

Isn't it about time for the cherries to be getting ripe around High Rolls?

You Know about the Cherries...thought that was a secret yes they will be out shortly and worth the trip to get 'em...I don't think I have any digital photos of that hunt and the BEAST...Huge critters that do damage...a guy I used to work with was living in El Paso and drove the War road from the range to EP and hit one in a new 3/4 ton GMC took the whole front end off my friend lived but was badly bruised from the impact!!!

Absolutely--I've seen them several times on the way to El Paso from Ruidoso on Hwy 54 in that red sand desert country. Huge--bull elk size, certainly, and more aggressive by all accounts.

On the cherries, we used to enjoy a trip down to High Rolls this time off year to stock up and then eat lunch at Rebecca's at the Lodge in Cloudcroft--must have cobbler!:D
