That's a very serious decision. But at under $500 for the ASHBM, why not go ahead and buy it, then buy a Basic 8 when it comes out, and wait until you have them both in hand to make the decision?
Alternatively, you could wait and see if the B8 comes out before Jerry announces the end of the ASHBM. If that happens, the B8 will likely be a short-term release, which means you could buy one via the ganzaa or whatever, then make a decision as to whether to keep it. If it's a short-window release as has been typical with these latest Basics, should be no problem re-selling it quickly for what you paid.
I can't imagine either of those knives not holding its value in the long term, but if the ASHBM stays up for several months, I can see how it might be a bit of a wait to get your money back out of it. :thumbup:
