THE HORROR!!!! backspring failure!!!

Wow! That is fantastic But then Case has always had great customer service. Saint Shirley must have been watching.

Carl.

Top notch customer service to this point. It's my first interaction with case because i've only owned a few of their knives, but it's inspiring me to buy more. I think the traditional manufacturers do a pretty good job with CS in general, but, were not as picky as the titanium-framelock-tanto-tip-tactical crowd.:D

 Oh no! Did they fix you up Duncan?? I am still patiently awaiting the arrival of my Zulu....

Glad to here everything has worked out. I had a spring breakage nearly identical to that on a Rough Rider Stockman, I still like RR, but I've owned a ton of them, and they took care of it by sending me a new knife I took the broke one apart, and it kinda opened the door to repairing and modding traditional pocketknives for me. Been trying to learn basic repairs since.

Hi Eric, yes they did! I cant complain about the service, I have resold the knife and explained fully to the new owner ( before sale )- I just wasn't using the knife - it was a shame because its a beautiful knife.
I have no problem with a knife that has been factory warranted worked on - the new owner basically received a new knife.

You are lucky to have Customer Service to fall back on!
I bought a nice vintage Schrade Cut Co Jack, and about the tenth time I cycled it after oiling it and wiping it down, I heard that sickening "tink"!

I guess I'll get it fixed some day, but it is tucked away, I am not sure where - haven't seen it for a few years . . . . . . . .sigh. . . . .

Here's a pic of what happened to my 1951 Colin Winand Belgian Army clasp knife. I did think about writing to the Belgian Army, but...:D

Hah! Jack, I think you definitely should pen a missal to the Belgian Army, and see what they have to say! It'd be worth the cost of postage, just for the entertainment value alone. ;)

LOL! I'm tempted! I'm not sure how much entertainment they'd get out of my very limited Flemish though :D

back on topic, I'm glad Case is sorting you out. I've never heard a bad thing about their customer service. in fact, I bought a sodbuster with a blade tang that looked like a beaver chewed on it. I emailed Case and they were so dang nice and apologetic to me that I decided not to even waste their time sending it in. I fixed it myself. Moral of the story for me is that I wanted to know they'd stand by their work.

Yeah, they have been great. They didn't ask a bunch of questions or seem distrustful of me. I haven't heard anything back yet, he emailed me last week and said it had been fixed. I will update when the knife arrives. I think it will arrive soon, I figured it would take much longer than it has. Color me impressed to this point.

Glad you're having a good experience.

I sent a knife back to Case once (this was in 2001, I think), since one of the handle covers came, new from the factory, with a bad crack near the center/spring pin. They asked no questions and sent me a replacement in short order. Still have that knife, one of my "will pass down to my future progeny" items.
  for Case's warranty service!

Update, I got my knife back from Case and it's perfect. Job well done Case! It is nicer than it was when I purchased it. The pins look good, the spring is flush in all three positions and they cleaned up the bolsters and shield.

Thanks Skip for keeping in touch with me over the last couple weeks. Very good customer service.

I would say EXCELLENT customer service, well done CASE - thank you for looking after Eric, fantastic news for our forum friend!

Yes....fantastic!! Well done Case and especially Skip. He deserves a virtual tip of the hat and raise of the glass! It looks wonderful, Eric!!
