The Incredible Delica 4

I've bought a couple of D4s...love the D3 so much it's still one of the knives I EDC.

I like d3's tip, weight and thinner profile. If I could find another plain edge one I'd buy it in a heart beat.

My wife gave me a D4 for Christmas. It's my first Spyderco and I am really impressed with it. I have a feeling there will be more Spyderco's in my future.....

i've had my d-4 pe for about a week now, and i love it. the ergo's are perfect and lock-up is rock solid. wish they had left the tip alone though, my first knife in the collection was a first gen d-4 fully serated, with the pointy tip. and yes i did break it by fumbling it and letting it hit the concrete floor at work, but i sent it back to spyderco, and they fixed it right up. can't wit for the g-10 d-4's to be released:D

They are extremely addicting, Messy. I can't help but buy more and more. :)

Don't get me wrong, I love the D4 and think it is an excellent knife, but the grind is ill-suited for kitchen work. As far as kitchen work goes, I'll pick my flat ground knives like my Caly3 or Military... or the Yang of course. The D4 is so great, it finds itself in my pockets from time to time, even in light of a collection of knives many times its price.

To me, the D4 stands for everything that draws me to Spyderco: exceptional quality and design, a commitment to improvement and excellence, idealizing performance over aesthetics, and listening to customers.

I recently got the fully serrated Delica 4, but because it's for someone else, I'm holding it hostage for a little while so I can play with it- mwhahaha!

I really like it though, very nicely done on Spyderco's part. :)

Personally, I'd prefer no Torx screws - had too many stripped (and no, I don't use a lot of force, though I do disassemble some of my knives every 2-4 months or so for cleaning).
'course, you could just switch 'em out later yourself... it would just be easier otherwise.

I'm gonna have to check out one of those D4s. My first Spyderco was a full SE D1 (I think) that I bought back in July 1994 that I still have. Seems there have been some big improvements since then.

BTW - Happy New Year!

I've got my first real folder(s) on the way... I just won an auction on eBay for a new PS D4 AND a PE SS Dragonfly!! :D I swear I was only PLANNING to get a D4... has the addiction begun?!?

Yup, you are going down the path of no return. Just open your wallet and let it bleed. ;)

How's this for an excuse: I got both knives for about $11 more than if I just got a D4. Plus, I thought that if I felt really guilty about it, I could certainly sell the Dragonfly for more than that. Problem is, I think the SS is pretty cool!!
