I can't wait for it. This is gonna be AWESOME. Who's all going?

I see Bill Burke is going to be doing a seminar on Tamahagane Steel and Bruce Bump is going to do one on "Cut & Shoot." I can't find any info on prices for the seminars though. If anyone has information about the prices, or information about the expo in general please share.

Here's the website: http://www.icce-show.com/default.html

I'm probably going, but don't know much about it. Dave's been planning on it since last year but told me about it just last month.

I'm not sure if it could be called a collaboration, but I know Bruce has asked Steve Culver for some help on his presentation.

JG, since I see you are from Topeka, do you ever attend the KCKA events? Hope to see you there next weekend.

Chris

I'll be there with a table. I'm up for voting member in the Guild... higher stakes than a "regular" knife show. I am really looking forward to meeting some of my internet knife acquaintances. Seeing all the knives will be cool as well. We just bought a new house, so it would be great to do well and come home with some cash. I'm also WAY out of supplies, be good to see those folks as well.

I just read that you were being inspected in the link that Calvin supplied. Best of luck!

I will be there. My knives are being looked at for Probationary member in the Guild and I also recently received word that I will have a table. I am looking forward to meeting many of the amazing makers who will be attending...and who knows, maybe I'll sell a knife or two.

Bob

The seminars are free to the public unless I missed something somewhere. Please drop in on mine at 9:00 Friday morning.

I'm not a member yet but have been meaning to join. I have a a couple friends in it. I didn't see anything up on the KCKA website. What's going on this weekend?

I did just find out about a ABS even going on at Washburn Tech(Topeka) Oct. 3rd and 4th. Should be two days worth of instruction/workshops by advanced/master bladesmiths. It's $65 for both days though.

I meant to see you at ICCE. There is a gun/knife show in Louisburg Saturday I'll have a table at though if you're bored. lol

Yes, that is the Symposium. It is put on by the ABS but is hosted by KCKA if that makes any sense. Last year was my first year to attend. So much great information, I only wish I could have remembered half of it!

Chris

I'll be there with a table. I'm for inspection and I hope up for voting member in the American Knifemaker Guild.
I'm very excited
See you in KC!

$65 for two days of any kind of instruction by an ABS mastersmith is a smokin' deal!

Definitely. We were talking about the ICCE being $15 for the weekend and I was just saying it was $65. If it came off like I was saying it was too much, or not worth it, I definitely didn't mean it that way. It's gonna be a good few weeks for knifemakers.

I'll be there. Didn't get nearly as many pieces as I hoped to done, but isn't that how it always goes? ;)

No doubt!
I think there is 10 or 12 demonstrations on Saturday, running 2 at a time, put on by various craftsman and experts. The topics last year covered everything from wood lined sheaths, forging(of course!), take down handles, photography and even had a collector there to give a seminar on how they see things. I think I counted 6 or 8 Mastersmiths, about as many Journeyman and countless other well achieved makers and ABS Apprentices there last year. Was well worth spending the day.

As soon as ICCE is over I'll start counting down the days for the Symposium!
