The International Custom Cutlery Expo in KCMO, Sept 18th-20th

Looking for to this show and finally meeting BB :thumbup:

Show starts tomorrow! Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend until Saturday. Was really hoping to get to see Johnny Stout's seminar.

A quick question since this will be my first time attending a big show. Is it considered faux pas to carry a knife of my own making or even possibly against the rules of the establishment to be carrying one at all? I know it is a knife show, but how things have been of late, especially with the "downtown" mentality, I want to be sure.

Thank you,
Chris

Here is the pistol/folder I'm showing for my presentation. I call it "The Coachman Pistol"
Please come and sit though it for an hour. Free coffee and donuts.....No

Congratulations Bruce on Best of Show and Best Collaboration!

So far, so good. Met alot of folks off of here, although it is hard to connect the names with the screen names. In terms of news, Adam Desrosiers and Bruce Bump won a couple of awards apiece. Myself, Travis Payne, Andy Roy, and Daniel Peters were inducted as voting members of the guild, plus a few other guys. Sales have been what I would consider normal... some sold out, some sold a few, some sold none. Overall, good crowd of serious buyers, and a room full of darn fine knifemakers. The quality of work on the tables is EXCEPTIONAL! By all means, come by (or buy) if you get the chance. I'm at table F22, would love to meet any and all of you.

Thanks for the update Jason and congratulations on being inducted to the guild. Sounds like it's been a great show so far.

Congrats Bruce on the award, that piece is certainly deserving of one!

Met Chris Jones, Mr. Self Made Knives, Allen Newberry, Caleb Royer, and a few zillion other nice folks today. Best of the guild awards went to Tom Overeynder and Jerry Moen, plus a few more. Hard to hear and hard to remember. Y'all stop by if you get a chance.

Was an awesome show. I was only able to make it up there for Friday unfortunately though. Met a bunch of great guys, a lot of whom are active here. I had a great talk with Mr. Bump and was privileged to see his work in person. Same goes for Bill Burke, Andy Roy, Denis Mura, and many others. It's the first big knifemaking get together I've ever been to. It was almost too much to take in. So many amazing blades at this show. So many giants in the knifemaking world, together at one show. It was surreal seeing so many of the guys who's work I've admired and watched on instructional/tutorial videos over the years.

There was a ton of great suppliers there too. I was able to meet Jeff from Jephco and stock up on his artificial ivory.

I firmly believe that knifemakers are some of the most friendly, helpful groups around. Great experience. Wish I could have been there all three days.

It was a pleasure to visit with you Jason!

I had a great day yesterday. So many names there it was crazy. My wife was making fun of me for how giddy I was. We hadn't even made it to the entry table and I had already seen Tony Bose and Don Hanson!

Congratulations to the award winners and congratulations Jason Fry on making voting member and Bob Ohlemann on probationary member, along with all the others.

I just made it home after a great weekend meeting, chatting and admiring fine examples from great makers.
And drew my own name in the Tony Bose lottery!!
Definitely worth the trip.

Overall, I had a pretty good show. Ended up selling three, including one that would have been difficult to sell elsewhere. Got the voting membership taken care of. I also met several really nice collectors who joined my mailing list. I found a few good deals, and some convenient supplies. It was humbling to be in the room, as the quality of knives was overall very, very high. There was plenty of money in the room, and the people who were shopping were well educated. Quality was selling, rockstars and award winners were selling, but run of the mill or lower quality stuff wasn't moving at all. Very discriminating customers.

BTW, if anyone knows the collector Bob Busto, I could use his email address. The one I got from him via my website had a typo, and I don't have a way to get a hold of him.
