the J.Williams gear replacement thread

Wow guys Thank you so much. This is unreal. My wife talked with the insurance company, and I guess the house was insured for the replacement value of the home. When we got this place we didnt have much, and no kids, and we never uped our policy to cover belongings. No guns or anything were insured. Thats changed now though. We are now covered pretty good. Im an ass for not doin it sooner. I feel like a tool. My dad said its an honest mistake. Im still young and figuring out these kinda things.

Its embarassing. Please dont flame on me to hard.

Your father is a wise man, and he's right. It was an honest mistake. I'm sure many of us have been, and continue to be, underinsured when it comes to this kind of thing. Chalk it up to a learning experience. It sounds like you have already rectified your oversight.
As far as gear is concerned, I was wondering how much climbing hardware you are in need of. I saw Langston has biners down, but I have quite a bit of older (but still rock-solid) 'biners, belay devices, and other hard climbing gear you may have. Send me a wish list, and I'll see what I can come up with. Sadly, I can't help out with the rope. I have many ropes, but they're all rather old, and therefore unsafe. Besides, they're all dynamic, and it sounds like you are in need of something static. Anyway, let me know what I can get out to you. Also, I have another harness for you, if you're interested. Brand new, never used. Can't remember the brand, but I can grab it out of my bin if you'd like to know. And I wanted to finish up by saying I'm sorry to hear about all this happening to you. Sucks to be robbed. Take it from someone who's been there too.

Hey jw,

I don't know what a 'PSK in a tac tailor molle pouch' is , but how about a Doc PSK Special?

This is a breakdown of the actual components in the kit.3- waterproof aluminum container in which is:4- a rare earth magnet which functions as a compass. It is placed on a leaf, piece of wood, etc., and floated. It will align itself with magnetic north/south.5- tinder (dry cotton) 6- standard lighter flints which fit into -7- modified Coghlan's lantern lighter which can light pretty well anything that can be lit with a firesteel and can be used one handed to boot. 8- mini firestraws, 9- leather awl needle that can be mounted in piece of wood for use 10- 3 various sized fish (or any other critter you fancy) hooks 11- cotton cosmetic pad for tinder and to prevent items from rattling in container 12- 19 feet of cordage (material unknown but strong and I use this for making poacher's nets [and before anybody gets too excited about this, it's just a name for this style of net]) 13- 3 safety pins to hold your clothes together or used as a gang hook 14- LED micro light to find the mix for your whisky in case it's dark out. 15- 15 feet of brass snare wire for obvious use or tying things together, etc.

Comes in a jute belt pouch. :D

I've got some side cutters I'd be more than happy to send out.

Are you looking for these?

That's what I have and I can ship them out. Any other tools needed?

Also, check out this thread. I've got an extra one of these bags laying around the house that I would like to see go to a good home and get used. Let me know if anyone has provided a bag of similar size yet or if one is still needed. I'd be happy to ship it out with the cutters.

Would a Busee Game Warden make a good fixed blade for you? If so let me know, I have a few extra floating around and would happily pass one along.
Jim

This is a perfect example of what we call HOGgish behavior (at least in the positive sense) in the Busse forum. Much of the INFI terminology and obsession is goofy and easily ridiculed, but just like here, we like to help others out. Good on you Jim G and good for you Jake.

Ok guys. I am really gratefull for all your generosity, and I thank you very much for jumping in and helping out, enough is enough though. No more. You guys have done enough, too much really.

Thank you for this. It means alot to me, and really took a huge amount of stress off my back. I will proudly use all the gear, and I have made a list of whoever helped out, and I will repay each of you somehow.

So, Thanks again to all of you.

J. just you using the gear and it serving you well is all the repayment most of us will ever need....glad to be of service to a service giver.:)

I know he needs a field Jacket.

Money's a little tight for me right now, but I'll split it with you if you want.

How much is said jacket? I am in the same boat with the dinero, but could split part of it...college kid budget and all...:o
