The Kamis Need Your STUFF! New Donation Drive!

We need a post of the number on men, women, and children. This would help insure there would be a proper dispersement of clothing for all.
Just a suggestion.

This is the analytical guy coming out in me.

Let Auntie confirm prior to sending but I'm certain she prefers this address for mail.

I just sent a package and she didn't think they deal with UPS etc, so clarify first or ship by mail and she'll get it.

I think i might send my textiles in some of those vacuum storage bags. I don't mind paying to ship a heavy box, but i think shrinking it down would make it easier to pack and protect the clothing. On top of that, I figure Yangdu can go though what we sent to weed out what will be useful to the kamis and just goodwill the rest of it. Then they can reuse the vacuum bags to make Kanchhi's load a little less bulky. They are supposedly water-tight too, so maybe that'll keep the clothes protected from the elements until she gets to Nepal.

Anyone ever use them before? I see some cost effective sets online for as little as $10.

Thats a very good idea Steely! It does shrink the volume down considerably. You can get them in blanket size which would probably work nicely. My wife uses them on anything shes packing away for periods of time. Keeps the bugs out too. Its best to take your clothes off before your wife pumps them down tho. How do I know this???:D

LMAO. I can just picture kamidog being vacuum packef in my mind.

OK guys, I've got a big box packed with 4-5 coats/jackets, an super warm Icelandic wool sweater, heavy socks, tee-shirts, safety glasses and a couple blankets ready to roll. Just need to confirm the shipping address for UPS.

I think Bawanna is correct, that is their shipping address I believe.

The address I emailed you is her personal address.

I have sent things there as well. I believe both addresses are good.

Maybe send her an email and ask her which address she would like items sent to for receipt.

I've got someone collecting women's clothing for me. I hope to ship this in about two weeks.

That's awesome, Dobe:) I'm hoping to get my sent out the first of the week. I want to try and use those vacuum bags, but our vacuum cleaner is on its last legs (why make a vacuum cleaner designed for pet hair if it is going to bog down and choke on...pet hair!). We're picking up a new one this weekend.

Do the kamis' kids need any stuffed animals or toys? I have a metric tonne of them that are barely used (something about grandparents and their granddaughter being their only child's only child when it comes to buying that sort of stuff). I didn't know if something like that would be good for them.

I bet they would dig it. Kids are kids ya know. Mattel should have made a Gurkha Joe, man, now I want one myself!

I have an iPhone 3s I can donate. I will also get a box of safety glasses and rags for the kami's. I will also dig through my winter coat collection. I must have a dozen or so I don't wear.

Big box of donations from gunstockjack received, great sellection for kamis and kids.
Thank you very much form HI and Kamis

Steely_Gunz,

Sorry, but I need a little more guidance on what the Kamis might need. I saw the list:

Here's a short list of needed items:

T-shirts
Safety goggles
Welding goggles
Socks
Warm winter coats
Ect.

I also have a very high quality pair of men's hiking/work boots, Redwing if I remember correctly. I think I wore them 4 times. They're lined with thinsulate, and have like new vibram soles, but they're heavy, is that OK? Is anything metal too heavy? I mean small stuff, not an an anvil. You mentioned "luxury items". I have no idea what that means to someone in Nepal, do you? I have some old cell phones, but unfortunately no smart phones or laptops. Are there any particular items that they might not want for themselves, but could re-sell?

I have a bunch of laptops I'd like to donate. They're in good working condition but they're quite old by American standards - most are from 2008. I'm sure they're good enough for doing homework and surfing the web though
