The knife bug. HOW DO YOU STOP IT? It's really killing me.

All these things I want to get. I want the Esee 6 and the Junglas, a customized BK2 leather sheath, a BK4 and 5, and I REALLY want to get my hands on a nice ZT/Kershaw blade. (but I'm definitely more stressed about the fixed blades)

Problem is I can only afford one of them at all, and if I did buy any of them, I would get in soooo much trouble with my mom and I'd make money problems for myself as I'm supposed to be saving up for trade school.

But it's really stressing me out. I'm feeling weird in the head and I'm picking at everything (I even dug a little hole into my thumb that really hurts) and I can't stop my feet from tapping. I've never been so affected by anything and I feel like those people who just stopped smoking because everything seems to be irritable and I can make it all go away with just one of those toys- but I can't afford it. T___T

How do you handle the addiction? Any cheap suggestions? I've tried hot baths, hitting things, chopping wood, making fires, sharpening my other knives and reading. No drugs ideas please.

Hmm I do not think I will be much help here. Just do not click the link below and you will be fine ;)

Stop it? You can't stop it. We can help you spend all of your money- you'll end up broke but happy all the way.

I know we always joke on here about our knife addictions but I can see how this can be an actual problem for those who are not in a good financial situation. This CAN be a very expensive hobby, and a person CAN easily get carried away.

If you have a lot of knives you want and your financial situation does not permit you to fulfill all those wants, it's best if you stop visiting this forum or browsing knife vendor websites. I'm dead serious. The more you browse and read, the more knives you'll want.

My suggestion is to stop looking at knives, and probably stop coming here.

Ya know how much I spent on knives a year before I started coming here? Maybe $30-40. Now? Well, it's been almost $200 in the last month and a half and to top it off I don't have a job anymore (and I knew that was going to happen, as the store I worked for closed).

The less I go on this site, the less I see knives, and the less likely I am to buy them...

My suggestion would be to pick up a cheap but quality blade to give yourself something to play with, and then abandon the internet (at least the part that's sharp and pointy) until you've got extra spending money.

I don't really do fixed blades all too often, but one that really caught my eye was the CRKT SPEW which can be had for less than $30. Sexy handle, nice Wharncliffe blade shape

And as long as it doesn't break any laws, you can EDC it pretty easily which should keep you happier longer. Good luck man

if i really have a fixation on my next knife and i cant afford it . i do whatever it takes to get it ....(this might be bad advice ??) i sell old knives , i have a craigslist blow out sale of anything i own that ive not looked at or used in a long time ....wash cars ..sell lemonade ...beg ....
since i became addicted i decided i really like cheap user knives around 30 buks .
good luck
i dont think therapy or drugs would help .

A good way to occupy yourself is by learning to make knives. It's a good way to space out the times you need to purchase knives that you're obsessing about.

I spent the last hour explaining knife locks and blade shapes to someone who barely knows knives but is very interested in them. I'm feeling a lot better now.

Sometimes it's better to just put the knife down, stop looking at knives, and just do something else. Then, after a month or so and you have some spare cash, treat yourself to a nice blade that you will enjoy for a long time.

Figure out what you want to do first. Why are you buying a knife? Once you know that, tailor your buying decisions to your needs. Make a written list of what you need, how a knife will help you accomplish that goal, and what your budget is for that purchase. Assume that you will choose unwisely several times and give yourself an out to sell and repurchase a few knives once or twice. Once you're done, you're done.

consider yourself lucky.... try getting bitten by the gun bug!:D in both cases there's no cure. LOL

plain and simple.
