The knife/car analogy thread

This may be a bit of a stretch but I'm gonna post my Sebenza analogy just because of how much I've always adored this car, the Continental MKII. Hand assembled, with precision, in America, premium product, clean and simple yet beautiful design, and although technology has advanced since it came out have they really ever done it better?

Chevy = Kershaw
I own many knives, but nothing by Kershaw. What’s the Kershaw equivalent of a 59 Corvette? (Which is not among the Chevies that I own. I did however, once pilot a 74 Camaro at/over 125 mph for 40 twisty miles. No crash, no ticket. Excessive tire wear, check.)

Now that's a challenge. I'm mostly thinking about recent, whole-brand vibes. Individual models would be tough. Like ... the new Vette definitely isn't a Kershaw. Definitely a ZT at least. A '59 Vette? Now you're in Brian Nadeau territory.

something older and kind of rare, with good steel… maybe a Camber? It’s not that old, but in terms of pocket knives it kind of is. And I’d say S30V is good enough to equal a 283 fuelie :-)

I'm waiting on delivery of a '75 Lincoln Continental MkIV, with a matte black finish, original wheels, tow package, and an electric fuel pump feeding an Edelbrock 750 on top of a 460ci iron block, with assorted other mods. And no catalytic converter! 90mph smoother than 60, it's just louder(but not much). 9mpg, in town or on the highway. ORIGINAL Real Steel, well over two tons!!! Absolutely impractical in this day and age. And so much fun, ya don't even care!

That would be the @Kailash Blades Regent Bowie, 12+ inches of 5160, a raw, brut-de-forge finish, sharpened swedge, buffalo horn handle, and kydex sheath, that's on order.... OK, I got the leather seats, too.
Don't really need it, exactly, but who can put a price on fun?!
Awesome! Please post a pic once received. Congrats.

Back when there was such a thing as Grace. Beautiful.

Awesome thread idea 👍👍👍
Here’s my take :
Spyderco = Camaro (SS/ZL-1 depending on knife)
Benchmade = Mustang (GT , Cobra etc)
CRK = Porsche (911 Turbo S , 911 GT2)
ZT = Dodge Chalenger (Scat Pack , Hellcat)
Hinderer = Mercedes (C63 AMG , G55 AMG)
Victorinox = Jeep (Wrangler , Grand Cherokee , TrackHawk)
Rockstead = Bentley (Continental GT)

Case knives are like a 74 year old car with a straight 6 or 8 cyl engine.

I would say that JK knives would be a Toyota LANCRUISER..…….very reliable and a bit classic.

Fiddleback would be like Lexus.

I currently own 4 cars and a truck -- including a MB, BMW, Chevy, Ford and Toyota -- and have owned close to 100 cars/trucks and motorcycles of all types during my lifetime. I also currently own over 350 knives of all types and I'm here to tell you that there is NO useful comparison to be made between motor vehicles and knives.

What a monumental waste of time. LOL! ;)
Agree 100%. Knives cost way less to maintain, need way less maintenance as well, good ones don't depreciate as much, and are much harder to damage.

Cars and women are a much better subject to compare and contrast. Some require more maintenance than others, both come in variety of styles and costs, both require fluid flushes throughout their life cycle...

I agree: if it has T*ts or tires: it's gonna cost you money...

What’s the Chevy, sgt?

I own nothing but Chevys, no cars, all older than 95.

Bought it a couple of years ago. Test drove Corvettes before and wasn't impressed but, when I got into this one, I just had to have it. A few flaws but the low mileage/price sealed the deal.

Sold my 2000 Porsche 911 Carerra 4 Cabriolet immediately thereafter. ;)
