The knife/car analogy thread

What do you think of the mid-engine 'Vettes?

Seen a few C8's on the road and in the showroom but have never had the pleasure of sitting in one, let alone drive one.

Like the concept and design.

Don't like the lack of a manual tranny.

Don't like no convertibles except in the yet to be seen/released 2023's.

And, don't like that a 2023 C8 convertible won't be in my price range for at least 8-10 years, if I live that long. LOL! ;)

But waiting for them to become affordable DOES give you something to live for!

Friend of mine just got a C8 with a retractable hard top. Very slick!

Friend is also my dentist. I feel like I should get the car 1/2 a day per year for all the dental work I've paid for.

Yeah….. if CRK can be RR, what would you call this ?

Based on its ass... Pagani?🤣

In all reality CRK id call the porsche 911 - well rounded.

Like knives, there are a lot of cars that you can buy. So, I won't hold my breath for a C8.

Besides, no manual trans is essentially a "deal killer" for me when it comes to the "fun" cars that I want to buy/drive. ;)

Why don't you like slushboxes?

Slushboxes? Do you mean auto transmissions?

I prefer manual transmissions in my "fun" cars because, even if I'm not driving "faster," it gives me the "feeling" of control over the engine and enhances the driving "experience for me." It's an auditory and tactile feeling -- the sound of the engine/trans; the feel of the clutch under foot and the stick in hand.

Same thing applies to my preference for rag tops in my "fun" cars. Originally switched to convertibles as a motorcycle alternative. It's the "wind in your hair" metaphor. When the top is down, you can see/hear/smell things that you can't/don't when you're driving a hard top. LIke you do on a motorcycle.

So, 2 of my fun cars are rag tops w/manual transmissions -- the C7 and a 2002 Toyota MR2 that I've owned for over 16 years. So, was the 996 that I recently sold. The MR2 only has about 1/4 the HP of the C7 but it costs nothing to own and is still great fun to drive. :)

I still have 3 auto trans vehicles -- a 2012 MB ML350 SUV, 2002 Ford F250 7.3L Diesel and a 2008 BMW 335i E90 Sedan.

The BMW is another "fun" car for me. Didn't start that way. Bought it as a basic sedan to driven around when I didn't need the SUV.

However, I started modifying it -- one thing led to another -- and now it's an M3 variant which, with only minor engine mods, is terrifyingly fast and also great fun to drive even though it's a hard top. ;)

I get the "Wind in the hair" thing: even without hair!

My last bike was a Kawasaki Concours which I sold around 5 years ago. Still have all the gear if I want to rent a bike and ride again.

The bike that I owned that was my favorite of all time was a 1998 Ducati 998 Monoposto

The bike that I owned the longest and road the most as a 1989 Kawasaki ZX10 which I road all over the western US/Canada and northern Mexico.

Great memories! :)

End of off-topic ramblings . . .

Ahhh... You like sport touring!
I was more into "easy chair" touring; on bikes that often carried even the proverbial kitchen sink for me.
'Wings and Spyder RTs were my choices.
(Still have my gear: a Schuberth helmet, and Hein Gerrick Dakar jacket...)
