I wanted to express my admiration of the post. I almost felt like i was in that school room with you rescuing those knives and then fleeing on bikes. Knives are TOOLS, not weapons, just the same way a gun cant kill someone, only the person behind it. It is up to us to be responsible and teach our kids proper etiquette. It seems like pretty soon everything will be banned; we will all be wearing the same drab white outfit, and we will be given pills to make us all compliant zombies. Til then, carry your knives and enjoy your freedom.

Agree shrapnel! This country was built by men. Bad things happen knives and guns doesn't kill people their users do. Now I carried a knife all the way through school. Didn get it out unless I was goin to use it. Now I understand teachers has got a job to do and I respect that. But boys nowadays ain't groomed to become men. They just run around and do what they want. If I was a teacher and seen a boy with a knife I'd be uneasy too. Bc u can't stick ur foot in a kids butt when they do sumn wrong because that's considered abuse; and kids know that nowadays. I guess what I'm beating around the bush to say is; youngans has no proper guidance or upbringing. If they do sumn wrong they go see a head doctor or put on pills. So is it the teachers fault? The parents? Or the systems fault? I say it's what the worlds coming to. People don't stand up for their morales bc they have been expected to walk the straight and narrow. Now Carl's story is great example how boys should be groomed to become men. Not running home to mommy and daddy but instead, taking upon themselves to do what they thought was right. Sorry for the rambling folks!

great story jackknife. i could picture it as a scene from a movie in the style of Stand By Me or The Sandlot. very well told, as usual. sucks me right in. thanks.

Please, please stop resurrecting old threads. We all love Carl's stories, but read them and leave them be (except new ones of course).

What Gary said. This story is from 2007. It's great fun to read them. Do not resurrect them.
