The knife i wished i'd bought way back when, was a...

Back when this forum was younger, they made a Spyderco Native with blue G-10 handles and I can't remember what steel. They were selling for right around $100, and I just couldn't afford one. I should have used the Credit Card.:D:(

Another one I wish I had coughed up the dough for was the A. G. Russell's limited Talonite CUDA Maxx 5.5. They were going for a great price.

Yeah, tell me about it. This is a big one. The stupid price increases mean that I likely won't be able to own one unless something lucky happens.

Or those Arc-Angel seconds for $90-something. Apparently, they were seconds due to etch/stamp problems, and worked fine.

Or used Spyderflies. I'd see 'em go for $50 back in the day.

I don't really mind missing out on all the other knives, but balisongs are far and few between.

Or go back even further, the Microtech Tachyon.

Others that I wish I had gotten:

The Buck-Strider SBMF
Microtech Combat Talon
Kershaw Volt

Back in the late '80's I was working for Pachmayr Gun Works in downtown LA. The company got bought out and the new owners decided to expand, and go upscale. They bilt one of the nicest gun shops you could ever imagine in downtown Pasadena. Had $2-3 million dollars in guns, top end stuff. Carried the best gear they could get. everything first class. Did good business.

One of the salesguys had a friend he'd gone to school with who made custom knives, and talked the manager into parting with enough cash to stock a few. I'd never seen a $1000 knife before, and couldn't believe they'd sell. It took about a month to move 5-6 of them.

So this guy asks if I'd like to go meet the guy when he picks up a couple more knives. I spent 3-4 hours out in the shop, talking grinding and polishing, fit and finish, and just general BS; motorcycles, Europe, etc. As we were getting ready to leave he offered to sell me a little coyote skinner to use since I was spending a lot of time out in the Mojave. It was a nice little blade, but I just couldn't see paying what a new rifle would run.

That little Bob Loveless Caper Finn has haunted me for 20 years.

That's going to be hard to top!

Back in the '80s we had a cutlery shop in our mall. I think it was a "Cutlery World". I had my eye on a number of Cargills and other fine slip joints but never did buy any of them. I sure wish I had! I sure wish that store was still there. They had glass cases full of nice folders and fixed blades.
