Hello all, my name is Caleb Fechner. I'm 16 years old and am in the process of taking my first knife design into production via my own brand Knight's Edge. As such I have created a Kickstarter in order to acquire the funds necessary to complete this task. The blade I'm going to be producing is what I call the CMKII (Companion Multi-Use Knife Mark II)
Some of the base specs: Full Tang, D2 Blade, Micarta Handle, High Hollow Grind etc.
If you're interested there are more details on the Kickstarter which I have linked below! Thanks for checking it out.

Kickstarter: (link removed- please familiarize yourself with the rules)

I don't think you have the right membership level to be posting this. Take a look at the rules and contact an admin to see what they think is the best way to promote your project

Read the terms and rules. or click on Paid Subscriptions.

And it's not a drop point. It's a clip point. Knowing correct nomenclature is a start to convincing people you know what you are doing.

Best of luck with your venture.

...and several of the techniques you have shown in the vid are mind-bogglingly dangerous, and your batonning technique is incorrect.

Knowing how to use a knife is a start to convincing people you know what you are doing.

You're entitled to your own opinion..... usually when pointing out a problem you provide a way to fix it or explain your reasons for thinking the way you do.

Post a pic without the link to Kickstarter..looks like an interesting knfe.

If he's actually 16 I feel like this intensity is over the top. But that's just me.
Good luck with your project Caleb.

Hey, the kid wanted money. I gave him some advice more valuable than that.

That is, you are not gonna get money from the people here for your knife design unless it's clear you know what you are doing. You need to know how to use knives to be able to design them. And the people here know how to use knives.

And if we know more about using knives than a designer, we are not gonna buy into that designer's work.

Go out, learn about and use knives. Get up to speed. Then people here might buy into your design concept.

Our new friend can take or leave my advice. Like I said repeatedly, I wish him luck.

But what am I supposed to do, pat him on the head and send him twenty bucks?

I mean, you're right. Maybe it's not what you say, but how you say it. I for one really appreciate the logic and sense you bring to the forum overall, just felt a little bad for the kid.

I'm not sure how to add photos.

Another indication you need to take a step back, hang around the forum, participate, and learn. You don't just walk in and say "give me your money", especially when it is clear you don't know what you are doing.

Here is some free advice.

You came here to make a pitch, to try to sell us something. You didn’t find out the rules first, but rather broke quite an important rule by even making the pitch in the way you did, with your very first post.

You are asking for strangers to find thousands of dollars for you to realise a project that will require considerably more complex logistics than simply working out how to post a photo here, or simply spending some time reading the rules.

This is seriously discouraging to any potential investor. I hope you can see why that is? My advice is to take a deep breath, take some time to do your homework, then give it another try when you are confident you have the right approach.

As others have said, this forum is for enthusiasts, some of whom might justifiably be described as experts. I recommend treading carefully. The information you need is easily accessed, but if people have to spoon feed you, why would they then give you money?

I appreciate all feedback positive or negative. That being said it seems your advice seems to be subjective in a negative way as illustrated by the condescending manner you have taken. As for your remark on using knives, I have been using all sorts of cutlery since I was very young. Do I know everything? Absolutely not, but I'm continuously learning more. Every has their own "correct" way to perform a certain task, and yours is quite obviously the one and only way lol. Thank you for your feedback Marcinek
