Scenario...your wife has had enough! Your knives have dwindled the kids college fund, you are eating crackers and apple sauce for dinner, you are working just to cover the 5 advances you took for those sebenzas,
you had to siphon gas from your neighbors truck last week just to get to work...
You have to sell all of your knives just Incase your shyster divorce lawyer wants more money...
But you can't live without a knife!?
You go hungry for a week just so you can buy the last knife you will ever buy.
You figure to spend up to $400 before having to consider selling a kidney to get by.

What's the last knife you ever buy?

Haha ha
I'm new to this forum so I don't know too much about knives.
But the setup is hilarious.

Keep the knives and sell that damn kidney......ya got 2 of em!!!!
😬😬😬
Sorry, couldn't resist!!!
I will be NO help......I can NEVER have just one!
Joe

If that scenario was all true and I wanted a knife, it would probably be a GEC slipjoint or Spyderco Delica. Might spring for a Native 5. But that is about it until I got back on my feet financially. From the sounds of things, that might be never.

Better yet, buy a Vic SAK and live with it.

Does this scenerio entail you having gotten rid of all the other knives that put you in the poorhouse?

This question should only be asked once a year, on April 1st...

Sebenza 21 Insingo. (Large/Plain)

Brother , that's simply what we call "phase 1" of knife collecting.

Hahaha, this was my crazy way of trying to figure out my next purchase and get some recommendations you will have to really think about

Large 21. Chasing sebbies will be what put me there in the first place, might as well keep one lol.

I am not much of a folder guy but I have bought a couple of CRKs recently to see if I like them...for me it would be a fixed blade and more than likely a Busse ASH1... some here will be shocked no doubt to hear me take that stance... :D

I have only a few (10?) usable knives, and the one that came today could easily be my last if it had to be. Bailey model 2 Geek edition.

Why not buy some basic tools and materials? Then you can make your own knives!

They won't take your knife making set up if it is a hole in the ground, hair dryer, rocks, and some junk yard spring steel.

We're missing the point here...what's the 1 knife you would own if you could only have 1

Forget the knife! How about a new Wife??? I'll take that money and get myself a mail order bride to love me long time. :p

People can only draw from personal experience. The nicest flipper (I've owned) at the <$400 price point is the Olamic Wayfarer 247 (plain jane satin finish). For <$300, the Spyderco Slysz Bowie is a knife that continues to grow on me and is perfect in it's own way. A great carry. <$200 the new Kizer Ursa Minor, but I'd wait for the next run without the blue ano hardware. <$100, the Delica for it's sheer functionality.

Thus the diagnosis of the disease, there can never be just one, it continues, but that doesn't mean you cannot get rid of some others first to make more room. Maybe a contract between you and the Mrs., where you have to get rid of three for every new one you want to get, that way it gives you pause to think do I really need that new one or am I willing to part with some old friends. If so, it can also reduce the collection and give more room in your junk drawers in the dresser, to actually make room for your socks, t-shirts and shorts. :D

Ok, to be fair and answer OP's original question,it would have to be for a Mike Mann Hudson Bay Knife.

I might be able to find an "as-new" Brad Southard AVO for that, here on the Exchange.
If not, a large Sebbie slab-sided model 21 or Zaan.
