The Latest Bagwell Masterpiece

I'm guessin 5 3/8" handle, 8 7/8" blade

Great knife

Congrats

My guess would be 10 inch blade just under 6 inch handle

It would be unseemly to talk about her exact measurements, would it not? Suffice to say, perfectly proportioned.

I will try to get her sisters together for a group shot in a few days.

Joe, Pootsty: Thanks for the inspiration.

I have been informed that Mr. Bagwell, being known as a master of balance, does not appreciate the dimensions of his knives being made common knowledge.
I didn't fully grasp what you meant in the quoted text, hence my persistence.
Respect for the knife maker is always paramount, and your stance on providing measurements shows what a good Collector is about.

It is a knife...not a woman, not even a ewe.

The answer you provided is dismissive. I would encourage you to post your passion, but also encourage you to provide specific answers when asked...otherwise, exactly what is the point of posting in the first place, if not to gain notice and encourage discussion?

I don't care for much of Bill's work....find it repetitive, oddly proportioned and severely lacking in fit and finish, but have been informed by Brother Joseph that the knives are fighting bowies without peer, and that matters a great deal. Knives are a beautiful thing, and true weapons of grace and speed are some of the most beautiful.

^ Yes, if you are going to share a knife, then please share it with the details.

That's got to be one of the most ridicules things I have heard since I've been involved in custom knives.

that it may seem to be, but as a patron of a knife maker, asked by the maker to keep certain information personal, I would do so out of respect and common courtesy.

I have noticed in the past a 'passion for numbers' inflaming threads, due to specific opinions on what constitutes a properly proportioned knife.

Personally, I am often curious about measurements, or at least always take the bait in trying to guess them, but by no way do I require specific information to be given when I ask for it.
I might think it a little odd if a knife maker were to post his own work and be reticent to answer particular questions about its geometry, but to demand this information from a collector posting a knife from his collection shows a sense of entitlement, which is why I edited my last post. I do not feel entitled to know this information, (although I'd like to know if my guess was right) and am happy that people post pictures of great knives that I can simply enjoy looking at.

There is a lingua franca of the knife community, and it is pretty much held that dimensions with photos are pretty important...it isn't a matter of entitlement.

Expecting someone to tell you how much they paid for a knife and getting mad when you did not say so is a misguided sense of entitlement, also expecting the price of a knife sold to be left up on a sale post.

This isn't a matter of National Security, it is knife talk....and opinions on proportions are bound to stimulate discussion, which is generally why people post on knife forums in the first place.

Guys bill does not care one bit if someone gives the dimensions of his knives out

Obviously the op does and that's his.business

There's no posted rules or sense of entitlement around the sharing of general details along with a knife photo posted on a public forum, it's just a common courtesy to do so.
Obviously, those who have great interest and passion for custom knives are going to thirst for information when a photo is shared. If there's some secret or mysteriouss reason for not giving information then perhaps not posting the photo would be the prudent course of action.
Anyway, I was just curious, don't really care now.
