The Les George Knives Thread

Someone said Topo Talos?

Happy Saturday, ya'll. This is my sixth and final Rockeye. I think I saved the best for last.

This beast has some serious history behind it. It was the first flipper Les ever made, built as part of a CK&G build-off competition against Jeremy Marsh back in 2011. It won first place in the Knife Dogs Tactical Folder awards and took second place for Best Folder at Blade Show that same year.

Some specs
  • 3/16" thick Chad Nichols Damascus blade
  • Massive contoured wood-grain superconductor inlay
  • Polished and eggshell-finished titanium scales
  • Rock-sculpted titanium backspacer
  • Damascus pivot

It’s an absolute tank but still refined in all the right ways. A perfect blend of Les’s early innovation and craftsmanship. Definitely feels like the right note to end my Rockeye run on.

Les doesn’t do many site drops, maybe one or two a year at most. Most of his pieces are sold through dealers like DLT or USA Made Blade. When he does a drop, he’ll sometimes post a hint on his Facebook page beforehand, but other times the email announcement is the only notice you get, so there’s not much advance warning.
Thanks Necroanax!

I had the honor of holding onto this one for a month or so this summer. This Rockeye is w/out question one of the finest knives I’ve ever had the pleasure of handling. The blade, detent, lockup, action, aesthetics… simply exquisite. An unreal piece of LG history.

Thank you for the kind words, Charlie. I sincerely appreciate you taking care of it, snapping amazing photos of it, and most importantly, not absconding to Mexico with it while I was away. 😆

Morning fellow Les heads! Got an extremely special piece that is new to me for San Mai Sunday.

While I can’t pin point an exact date, my best guess is that this MEFP Valmara was likely a lotto piece at Monkey Muster in 2015-2016, making it an early example of the model.

My previous Valmara was stolen from me by USPS in April of ‘24. Hard to put into words how much it means to me to add one back into my collection… especially this one!

Beautiful knife 👍. Sorry to hear about your previous Valmara , did you at least got your money back from the USPS? I heard it is really hard and frustrating process to deal with them, and to appraise the item!

Sharing this one for Sicario Sunday. I know there are at least a couple more floating around the group, so figured I’d throw mine into the mix.

This one was made in 2019. It’s got a Chad Nichols Damascus blade with polished flats that really bring the pattern to life. What the scales lack in flash they make up for with beautiful contouring, while the polished zirconium backspacer, milled Zircu-Ti clip, and anodized pivot screws bring just the right amount of pop.

THAT. Is. Incredible.

This is an older picture as I no longer own the Hinderer dama. I always get mad at myself when I have to part with an awesome piece, but unfortunately that’s how adulting works at times! Have a great Sunday y’all I’m heading to the flea market!

Thanks, man! I never really gravitated toward Persian-style blades in my youth, but after a few Gulf deployments, they bring back some nostalgia from those port visits in the Middle East. I’ve got to think that was part of Les’s inspiration as well.

I would imagine his time over there was an influence, for sure. Thanks for sharing that - I was completely unaware of the "Sicario" model. Beautiful lines. 👍
