The Les George Knives Thread

My pivot did the same but I just pulled the screw and added teflon. Good to go.

Was it noticeably smoother after a cleaning?

I’ve been wondering if breaking them in as they come from the maker for a good while actually helps with the smoothness long term. My thinking is the grit and lack of lube actually polishes the washer n scales resulting in a much smoother action. Gonna give it a try with this one.

Sorry I missed this yesterday afternoon.

Yeah, it was immediately smoother and the detent felt more snappy as well.

I've wondered the same, but I think at the end of the day the most important part of break in is plenty of opening and closing so that the washers and blade can lap to each other and the detent burnishes its track on the tang. If anything my daily shenanigans will introduce plenty more grit to help with the process if that actually is a thing 😆

That should get everyone lathered up...

thats exciting..now I just got to start saving up....

I was excited to see it for sure. I didn't want it bad enough to jump on the 12 days drop just days after scoring the VECP. but it is one of those I will definitely be tempted by when I'm itching for a new knife sometime in the future.

As an "Insingo" fan, the Myna was right up my alley. The Servo with a similar blade had my attention, but it was overkill at that point, since the Myna was still enroute.

That said, the Myna definitely has some nice features. The DLC finish gives it a bit more traction than bare titanium, the action is great, the blade is honed flawlessly, and the balance in hand is something.

When I pick up a McNees Dixon or a VECP button lock which are only 1/4 ounce difference in weight, it feels like a much lighter knife in comparison. I had to weigh them all a few times to believe it.

I wonder how sales on the Myna compare to Les' other patterns.

12 Days Servo arrived yesterday and as promised here my initial thoughts.

Pros:

-Scales-The diamond texture provides some nice grip, not too rough but takes some of the slickness of the TI away. All edges are chamfered and smooth with easy access to a smooth lock bar and the typical awesome stonewash. The faux bolster/half milling of the lock side allows for a smooth in/out without tearing up the pocket with the stock clip. A longer clip like a SF will land on the diamond texture and may be a different experience.

-Action is good/smooth with a nice snappy detent. I think it will benefit from some Skiffs but I’m not unhappy at all with the stock bearings. Good solid lockup with zero blade play in any direction and zero lock stick.

-Blade- It’s nice to add a different blade shape to the collection even if it’s similar to the Myna. Minimal but useful jimping on the spine and an acid wash that looks great. No jimping on the flipper tab which I prefer and it arrived sharp.

-Normal excellent LG pivot, hardware and stand offs

Cons:

-Blade- I might be a nitpicky asshole so I’m going to go easy here. Not all hand grinds are equal. mitchnola mitchnola & madcap_magician madcap_magician were right to be cautious and I’ll just leave it at that.

-No lock bar insert or over-travel stop but anyone familiar with a LG design knows that’s usually the case and truly is of no concern.

-Unnecessary lanyard hole, I would prefer a barrel/pin similar to the latest VECP. This would move the clip up, allow a touch deeper carry and more clip options that would land on the non milled part of the scale.

Overall I think it’s a good looking knife that will have zero issues handling the cutting tasks it was designed to do. It’s nice to have something different from the other Servo offerings I’ve seen and my LG knives. I realize some were turned off by the price but I’m happy to send my money to a small US business. Les has us all so spoiled with his continually stellar offerings at incredible price points. Lastly, Les said there will be more of these in 2026. Not sure if they will be machine or hand ground. Pick one up when they come available again.

Awesome to hear Boss! I would have really been disappointed and maybe even felt bad (just a little) if you felt otherwise. 😉

While I dont think the Myna gets the amount of love it deserves, it was still very well received. Secondary sales have been pretty consistent around $400+ depending on the variation. For whatever reason, the majority of mynas have been dlc coated. I’m only aware of one or maybe two drops in all sw variations which has made those harder to find and therefore a little more desirable. Imo

Personally it’s right up there as a favorite with the rest of his models and is definitely my favorite in the hand (also love the mk3 in hand).

Les had planned on ‘25 being the year of the myna but that got sidetracked by personal issues. Hopefully ’26 will be. I’d love to have one with a thumb disc though very unlikely.

Definitely looks like the young bucks at d7 need a little more practice. Still a great looking knife and happy to hear the diamond texturing provides some grip as Les’ diamond pattern doesn’t have much bite to it to really add to the grippiness.

it still looks great to me.....Great knife really...makes me wish I grabbed one. the next run

Agreed, wouldn’t really even bother me that much but can certainly understand if it does bother most. D7’s output is pretty strong so I’m sure it won’t be long till you get one. If I see any pop up on the other exchanges I’ll definitely give you a heads up.

That would bug me to the point of returning or selling on the secondary. Whoever looked at that and decided to send it needs a talking to from Les in my opinion. I understand the young guys are learning and there will be mistakes along the way, but they shouldn't be sent to customers. A $500 knife shouldn't look like that.

I almost said it the other day in a discussion about the 12 days VECP being machine ground, but hand grind doesn't always equal better grind. Here's hoping the wharny Servos coming in 2026 have a nice, symmetrical machine grind!
