Poor choice of words on my part. And the Kershaw would likely do just fine. Office vs in the field. The field was predominantly and still could be OCONUS, normally Latin America but really all over. I was almost to 100 countries a few years back. I want a cookie. More recently I’m focused on tech protection and critical infrastructure, so travel to construction sites, data centers, production and assembly, labs, power facilities, etc. Some of these locations are remote.

Depending on the what and where I pick the knife. I’ve got a bunch of issued knives that would do most of the work, or Spydie Salts. Some of the areas I travel to are near or on the ocean too. There have been a few more interesting ones in less permissive areas, but most were just hot, humid, boring and crappy.
 
I just gifted my neighbor a knife I took with me during a trip to Sao Paulo to investigate some smuggled (unmanifested) precursor chemicals which could be used for solid rocket propellant. (This was just after 9/11 and we were concerned it might be transshipped to the Middle East to fuel Scuds to be used against our troops.)

Unmanifested precursor chemicals moving through South America? Inconceivable!! A buddy told me once to never forget- many attractive Colombian and Brazilian women have larceny in their hearts. lol. Words to live by when young and traveling down there.

It was a complicated enough situation that I had to enlist the CIA down there to help us track the material down. (They owed me one for a past case where they were the culprits and got busted. It made 60 Minutes.)

I'm plenty familiar with South American women...I filled a prison wing with them...and yes, they can be very persuasive.

I was on it at the drop. I got one in my cart. I pushed pay. I got the bank text letting me know it charged me. My cart screen flashed red and said sorry, loser your cart was empty. A couple moments later I got a bank text letting me know the charge had been credited. Now I’m sad.
