The Les George Knives Thread

Great to hear it found a permanent home with you! And very happy to hear your thoughts on it. If ever given the chance, don’t pass up on a frame lock. They even shine compared to crks, which you know I also love.
The nice thing about the VECP is that it's not the same old thing...whether a frame lock, liner lock, compression lock.

It's a fresh face on a knife that reminds me a great deal of the ZT 0550 overall...despite their many differences. (A knife I've owned and carried for some years, and really like a lot.) Something about that solid, no nonsense, feels great in the hand, and doesn't back down sorta thing.

That 0550 is a tank of a knife. I had a gen 1 for a bit, she was just a little too thick for the pocket 😂. Super smooth action though!

I sense a new Les Head in the formative stages!

It really depends on the patterns. I'm not much of a "dagger" guy. I appreciate the aesthetics, it's just not my thing in a folder or EDC. (I was on the cusp for Mitch's that he just sold, but I wasn't ready to scratch an itch I didn't yet feel.)

Agreed, and they feel like they’re meant to be used. I’ve never felt any hesitation to use them when needed regardless of price. I do have a few I baby but only because of rarity. They definitely instill confidence in being durable. And that finish is excellent at hiding wear.

I wonder if Les George ever met Les Adams. I haven't seen Les Adams in years, but back in the day, he was on the Bomb Squad for the Miami-Dade police, (formerly Metro-Dade), and his SWAT team and our SRT and undercover groups worked together pretty regularly when I was assigned to them.

Les was (and may still be) a knife maker whose straightforward, tough, no nonsense knives got some traction in the late 90's to early 2000's. I haven't seen him in years, but I stopped going to shows about 10 years ago for one reason or another.

Les and Les would have plenty of common ground for discussion and comparing notes.

Mine's gonna take a little time to break in...but I'm in no rush.

Do you guys lube the button?
I haven’t had to. I would try using a pencil on the blade where the button lock engages if it’s lock stick. It will go away regardless eventually. If the action seems tight then you may want to take the pivot screw out and use some loc tite then adjust it to where you have no blade play and let it sit over night. It can literally be a 1/32 of a turn between blade play and no blade play.
