This is the one I’ve been hunting for but it’s proven quite elusiveDay 15: Morph Monday
I've had five LG button locks and this is the one I couldn't part with. I love the Morph pattern and it has the smoothest action of any I've handled. I do wonder if this model is the primary reason Les's popularity has vaulted so much in the past year. What do you guys think?

I definitely think so which is crazy to me. As great as the button lock is, what impressed me the most was how great his frame locks are compared to others.Day 15: Morph Monday

I think you're exactly right. A lot of old school Les fans actually prefer the thumb stud or flipper frame locks, but the button lock was a gateway knife for a lot of people who for whatever reason just hadn't pulled the trigger on a Les George piece before. Once you get one, you know what the hype is about.I definitely think so which is crazy to me. I think a good example was I had a guy contact me about buying my mk3. He just missed out on it by 5 minutes. He mentioned that he recently got a button lock and was looking to buy every LG he could find.
You picked a fantastic one to start with. Just be warned, the action on it will set the standard for washer pivots going forward, likely you will find everything else lacking.Well I will finally be able to join in on the LG fun. Bought an MK3 from the secondary over the weekend. This will be my first LG.
I promise to give an honest evaluation...AwesomeBlues I may be just as excited as you! It’s been a long hard haul to get you on team LG! Really hoping your impressed with it. An LG endorsement from you would be pure gold around here! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts.
You know it's a great brand when the warning someone gives you about it is that it might actually be too good. You picked a fantastic one to start with. Just be warned, the action on it will set the standard for washer pivots going forward, likely you will find everything else lacking.
Every other knife I check out, a little voice in my head says "yea it's smooth, but it isn't MK3 smooth"You know it's a great brand when the warning someone gives you about it is that it might actually be too good.![]()
That’s exactly why, the experience and respect you have around here!I promise to give an honest evaluation...
(Though I don't think my opinion should matter any more than anyone else's...unless you simply consider it from the standpoint of personal experience with lots of custom and high quality "mid-tech" knives over a few decades.)
I really like thumb discs as well but his thumb studs also work flawlessly. A thumb stud frame lock vecp is a must have!I am totally hooked. The action is so good. The thumb disc manual open on the MK3 is my favorite, but I really need to try a flipper. I do like the conveniently unobtrusive button lock, though.
I'm with you there as the mk3 is my favorite as well, but sure would love to get a flipper one dayI am totally hooked. The action is so good. The thumb disc manual open on the MK3 is my favorite, but I really need to try a flipper. I do like the conveniently unobtrusive button lock, though.
It’s crazy, haven’t seen a flipper up for sale in forever.I'm with you there as the mk3 is my favorite as well, but sure would love to get a flipper one day![]()
Heck, even the thumbstuds have dried up!It’s crazy, haven’t seen a flipper up for sale in forever.
True, the only place that’s got anything is the auction site and the prices are absurd!!Heck, even the thumbstuds have dried up!
Great write up. I hear you on the warmth of LG knives, you can feel the LG personal touch in each one! Now you need a ESV preferably patterned! It's here!
First impressions are very favorable. Nice edge bevels, slices phone book paper very cleanly. Mechanics are good, will get better with break-in, no doubt.
Feels great in hand. Not a hot spot to be found, whether in forward or reverse grip. Very nicely chamfered. Also has a very "warm" feel...which I wasn't expecting. Jimping is well thought out and works well with the blade.
Yep, it appears to be a keeper. Looking forward to spending some quality time with it and getting to know it better. Fits right in with my other front row knives in this class...CRK, Demko, Hinderer. A nice addition.

Problem is that I rarely carry my smaller folders...even if they're stout. I can't explain it. (Even the ones I won't let go.)Great write up. I hear you on the warmth of LG knives, you can feel the LG personal touch in each one! Now you need a ESV preferably patterned!
I felt the same way until I got an ESV and a zt0900, now I carry both frequently. They are surprisingly "big" little knives.Problem is that I rarely carry my smaller folders...even if they're stout. I can't explain it. (Even the ones I won't let go.)
It's like having to change out of your school clothes when you get home.
Great to hear it found a permanent home with you! And very happy to hear your thoughts on it. If ever given the chance, don’t pass up on a frame lock. They even shine compared to crks, which you know I also love. It's here!
