The let your mistress fly challenge.

where's cobalt when you need him? i think he had something like 15,000 throws on one of his SHBM's....

Winston

I wish he or Papthud would chime in. I made this pic in honor of Cobalt and his skills some time ago.

230, I don't guess chopping up golf balls with my HHFSH and BWMLE this morning counts huh! It was too easy anyway,:)

Ok, I am glad to see the stuff that made the first page:thumbup:

Bigfatty was first I saw throw a FBM and I was floored. I had to try it, but must say I aint enough of a man to throw it frequently:(

I'm walking the woods today looking for shrooms. I have a camera on me and my NMFBM and I recall 230's challenge so I start throwing :D

Awesome pics everyone!

Forager, isn't the NMFBM a blast to throw?

Mine is so dull it's insane near the top part of the knife from missing and landing in the rocks/dirt. Lots of flat spots all over the edge. I've still yet to sharpen it because the sweet spot is still fairly sharp.

threw this bad boy twice the other day and my dang slabs shifted :mad::mad: (I accept full responsibility)
IMG_0503.jpg

gonna have to pass on chucking my nmfbm for a while now :(

I haven't had slabs shift yet from throwing, but I have from batoning (Not even against the handles).

They're a huge weak point in what is in fact a nearly indestructible knife.

no shifting on either my FBMLE or the Ash1. But not too many missed throws.

I would be pretty sad to bend a tube, but then I would have the perfect excuse to drill them out, and learn to do a new one with my vice (there is a decent tutorial or two on here on how to do it with minimal tools).

I would be less concerned with a missed throw sheering a tube and more concerned with sinking the knife.

The energy that travels through the knife when it hits the target is huge. I've yet to shift handle slabs by hitting them directly, but I have moved them with energy transfer.

I've also never broken a knife by missing, but i've had some stick and THEN snap in half. I've had knives also stick and have the handle slabs fly off after impact. Throwing is pretty abusive.

I think it has less to do with the actual impact energy, than it does with the harmonics. The blade flexes and starts to oscillate as it sinks in. As it sinks, the oscillations increase in frequency as the tip is stabilized in the target and the rest of the knife vibrates. High frequency oscillation are what will shift or throw handle slabs more than just a straight impact.

While I do love throwing knives, give me INFI broadheads and an INFI trade hawk.
