The Life of a Boys Knife (GEC #15)

Just got my 2 blade 15 in ebony, I gotta say that this might be the perfect traditional knife in my humble opinion.

The f&f is seriously flawless, there is literally nothing wrong in the slightest bit with the construction. The grinds are sleek, the blades are dead center, and the covers are almost completely black with very subtle hints of brown.

The most amazing aspect of this knife is how easily it disappears in your pocket! I think this is primarily due to the weight, or lack-thereof. I figured that the capped ends would add weight but for as much steel is packed between those two slabs of ebony it feels extremely light. Compared to a Queen Dan Burke Barlow that I carry on a semi-regular basis it seems to weigh in at about half as much. The 15 even feels a bit lighter than the TC barlows with bone covers.

To Charlie and the folks at GEC I gotta say thank you very much, this one impressive piece of cutlery!

Knife is looking quite nice Mark, and your photos are excellent. I really like that one with the tang stamp pictured so crisply.

Nick is right - I broke down and also got the two-blade red bone version in addition to the ebony one - it came in today. These knives are flawless.

Just like you Blaine, it probably won't be my last 15 and definitely not my last GEC. ;)

Got mine yesterday, beautifully finished, perfectly centered, a little more side to side blade play than I like. I'll be sending it to GEC to correct the play. A nice little carry knife.

I like that picture very much!

I just read that the next Boys Knife run (clip mains) will feature the sam choice of ebony and rust red bone.* Understandable, given how good those covers look-- especially together. ;)

Been a couple weeks and I thought I would throw in an updated picture. The knife has been excellent for my day to day tasks. Great overall size in that it is easy to pocket but is able to handle bigger tasks such as food preparation. This is an absolute must for any knife I will daily carry. The thin blade just slices through things really well even when in need of a touch up. Also in the picture is a little knife slip I made for my new companion.

I really like your leatherwork.

Thank you very much. Leatherwork is a fun little hobby that is great for Christmas time :)

I really like the pic you posted above. Which of your boys do you prefer? I really would have liked to picked up a jigged bone. They look great

The red bone ones are still around. I can PM you about them, if you like.

It's hard to say, really, which I prefer. Kind of depends on which one matches the shirt I'm wearing that day. :D

Thanks, money is a little tight for a while. Just had to spent a couple grand on writing a test haha. Knives have to wait till next year sadly. However, I have some good ones and I can enjoy everyone's fantastic pictures :)
