My bet is someone put the aluminum on the tree to prevent any animals from being able to climb the tree and get to the nest. That, or it's part of and alien spaceship. Nice pic's.

From what I can tell and your observations it seems like a way to stop rodents from climbing up it and protect whatever kind of bird/eggs was nesting there. Thats cool they used wood grain aluminum to help camo it.
