I often hear about the older fellas who have carried the same slipjoint or similar pocket knife for 20, 30+ years. I'm having a very hard time finding a knife i could be comfortable enough with that i could do the same. I've carried large fixed blades, small fixed blades, SAKs, tactical folders, and a few traditional style folders but i always get bored with them or find something a little nicer.

The longest i've carried any one knife was a Buck 110 for about a year straight. I'm looking into another traditional style folder to spend some Christmas money on.

What was the longest you've carried any one knife, and what knife is/was it?

I've carried a Benchmade 710HSSR almost daily since April 2000. It has had some brief interuptions in service when I got a new knife and tried it out as my EDC. I put the 710 down today and have a Spyderco Volpe in its place since I got it today. I'm not sure how long it will last. I really love the Volpe, but it's usually a matter of time before I start missing the AXIS lock.

I carried a Leek, gents finish for almost a year. Have been rotating the stock lately though. Carried a bunch of different knives over the past 2 months, and im having fun with the different blades. I really don't think ill be able to settle on the same knife for 20. 30 years.

i carried a uncle henry large stockman for about 8 years. i sharpened it until it would no longer hold an edge on all 3 blades. i think i had to cut down on the back edge of the blade 4 or 5 times so it would close without the point sticking in the hand when i reached for it in my pocket. haven't managed to carry one near that long since. randy

I've been carrying my Benchmade 722 for over three years. When I got tired of the tanto point, I modified it to a drop point and now I "REALLY" like it.

I carried the same Buck 110 for 10 or 12 years. It was still a good knife and if I had not lost it I would have carried it longer. These days I switch around alot.

I bought a Spyderco/ Michael Walker Lt/wt at the first knife show I went to in 1998. I have one on me about 95% of the time. It's not the same knife, but it is the same model. Over the years I've aquired some great knives, and most if not all has spent time as an EDC, but non the carry time of the Walker. It's a near perfect knife for me.

Buck/Mayo 172, 2 years straight. Its easy since the sheath I carry it in (an old 112 sheath) rides on my belt when I'm not at work. Its also the reason I carry my GB (10 months straight) so much.

I carried a Case XX 11031 for 21 years. It was my first real knife bought in 1978 and carried till 1999. After that, I carried a Benchmade 710 from 1999 till 2001. Now I carry an Emerson CQC7 till...???

I have a Benchmade Leopard cub in my pocket right now and have carried it for maybe 15 years now. It's still going strong and still one of, if not my favorite knife.

I have a Buck 110 and used that for several years (8 years). Then got into an original Leatherman and used that for another 8 years. A few years ago I upgraded to a Leatherman Wave (5 years) and now this year I bought a Leatherman Charge XTi and a SwissTool Spirit with ratchet set. As for knives, I will not settle on any one knive I have in my drawer. I like them all from my small and large Sebenzas to my Spyderco Manix and Military and everything else in between.

Spyder Calypso jr for 2 years. Before that, an endura for 6 or 7 years. Somewhere in that endura run, I switched to a BM spike and lost it (tears). I then resolved to carry plain spyders, lest I lose another $100+ blade. After all, the $100+ blades, for edc, don't do anything better than the spyders. I do like them more, however :)

I'm not surprized that the Buck 110 gets as much carry time as it does.
It's a good design, with decent steel and well made.

Carried a little Buck cadet for about 3 years while working at my previous job. It was small enough to carry comfortably in my kakhis, big enough to do any cutting job I ran into, and small enough to not freak out non knife people.

Benchmade Emerson CQC7 about ten years, before that a Benchmade folding Tanto for 3 a Skirmish for about 6 months now I am torn and switch between a TI34 Kershaw and Spyderco Military
